Zombies derailed... and destroyed.

Cadavers vs Rangers
Playoff Game 2
Thursday 8/30
Canton 7:10

11-2 loss.

Thats right... trainwreck. The Cadavers faced off with the Rangers for the second game of the playoffs and hoped to get one over on the talented Rangers. Not to be. I think the first clue that things weren't going the Zombie's way was when they scored :48 seconds into the game... or maybe when they scored again just under 2 minutes later... or when they scored again 4 minutes after that. I think you get the picture my blog reading friend. The Zombies got croaked last night.
That's not to say there wasn't plenty of effort and even a glimmer of Zombie Pride on the ice, it just wasn't enough. This was a theme all night. Not enough. The Zombies struggled to mount consistent offensive pressure and on the other end let up far too many good scoring chances to a group that clearly knew how to finish.
Let's give some credit where credit is due. The Rangers are pretty good. They have an excellent mix of older, skilled guys and younger speedy and competitive women that played very well together. They had lots of good passing and really they had the skill players to turn it on whenever they wanted.
The Zombies were tough. To a person, there was hard work and effort all night. There were even some bright spots amid the rubble.
*Kevin Parker produced a tremendous gutty performance just going out for his shift throughout the game. Kevin was not feeling well and .... well the Blogger doesn't feel like getting into it. Suffice to say under great duress Mr.Parker gutted one out for the team, knowing how outgunned we were. Thanks.
*DJ played great with the first line of Kevin and Jim Sullivan. In position consistently all night long Deb had several chances and even created some oppportunities. Really its the small things...ie: 6 out of 7 times when the puck came around to her point in our end she got the pass and connected on an outlet. Excellent work.
*The only goals were scored by DWH from Sully and Jeff Fosdick from Dan Gregson.
Other than that there was some solid play from the Defensive corps featuring George Moorachain, DWH, Mike Campbell, and callup Billy Pearlman. Everyone played hard, it just wasn't going to happen for the skating dead last night.
Now the Zombies face a 0-2 Playoff record and the only thing remaining before the book is closed on this summer season is the final showdown with our brothers the Schlitz. A chance to knock the 2-0 (with the bye) Suds out of the coveted Championship Game. Sounds like a good Schlidaveur story line to me.

Just one more thing for you team. Last night marked another seminal moment in our franchies history. The 'Coon has been replaced! That's right bitches...

THE RETURN OF THE 'COON OF SHAME!

The ghostly spectre of the 'Coon has returned to remind us all that poor play, or outlandish behavior will once again be rewarded with our fiendish furry friend. Seen here in the beer cooler during last night's fourth period, the 'Coon was quoted as being "glad to be back" and "just here to help the team". I guess that stinker of a performance by the skating dead brought him out of semi retirement...

So we have a group 'Cooning for the entire Cadavers roster last night for losing by 9 in a playoff game.
