Schlidaveur the Fourth... Start your engines.

Cadavers (13) vs Schlitz (11)
Wednesday 10:00pm *Tomorrow*
Brockton

Here we go kids. Its that time again. Lets get revved up for some mid-week Schlidaveur action in the City of Champions.
Looks like a solid turn out numbers wise. This is a good rink even if it is on the moon for some of us. Management has been working on some rosters so everyone take a look and find someone you are playing against to rag on. Or talk smack... or whatever. We even have Beerman duties wrapped up at this hour so bring your game, bring your endurance, and bring your thirst for the fourth period.

Schlitz
Mike Campbell 77
Ijosh Greenstein 21
Jeff Fosdick 10
Scott Pounds 83
Matt Kilroy 19
Peter Capraro 52
Larry Bell 16
Michael Jasse 12
Dan Gregson 44
Matt Elliot 88
Greg James 3
Mike

Cadavers
Roman Kurin 13
Matvey Nikhamik 25
Nelson Sharfman 14
Dave Spenciner 15
Chris Fosdick 2
Deb Dalessio 24
Mike Hammitt 55
Stefan Wennik 7
Dan Hebert 39
Jim Sullivan 23
Kevin Parker 2
Lizzy

Ok. There are some wild cards here. Campbell and Larry may have last minute issues, if we lose Campbell the Schlitz get Stephan. We also haven't heard from Pearlman so if he shows he can be the fill in or just join the Schlitz regardless of dropouts. I'm sure there will be some last minute roster bouncing just to make sure things are close to even. Any suggestions are welcome.
Lets go... use the comment feature and start running some smack!
See you all tomorrow night.
...punks.

Pretty tied up... Zombie pride earns a draw.

Cadavers (12) vs Double Runners
July 26th
HinghamC 10:20pm

2-2 Tie.

Not a bad night for the Zombies, maybe not "pretty" but...it could have been a tremendous win, and we had our chances but.... not to be. Really there is no shame in the draw. They have a solid club and kept trying hard all night. Lizzy played great making key stops along the way and their keeper played very well too, getting in front of almost everything. If only we could have capitalized on a rebound or two, we could have walked away with it. Not to be, but a very good, hard fought game that should carry some satisfaction.
Everyone that played (a full 13!) deserves credit for skating hard and giving their all. In general we stayed out of penalty trouble despite the chippyness that developed about halfway through. Thankfully the 'Runners mouthed off and complained enought to get the zebras off of our backs. Looking back...these guys were a bunch of whiners. Every time down the ice someone was bitching about something. Their big stand up (half shield) guy, #2 would hit/jab/grab anyone close enough to him to reach and yet would howl like a schoolgirl if you so muched as rubbed against him in the crease. Pussy. Lets have a quick quote from Kevin Manning on how he felt about this guy..."This morning I am sporting a lovely, 4 inch long black and blue on the arm courtesy of #2, the chief punk of the Double Runners." Nice... we'll probably see him again.
The D played great. First pairing Mike Campbell and DWH played awesome all night negating chances and moving the puck out of our zone all night. Second group Greg James and Kevin Manning also created opportunities and played well.
The offense was lead by Nelson Sharfman and his wingers George "The Finger" Moorachain, and of course "Dangerous" Dave Spenciner. Nelson had our first goal of the game on a hard work play from Dave and George. These guys were around the net all night and had buckets of chances. In particular, with the game tied and 5 min remaining they led off after a time out and played their whole shift in the Runners end getting ridiculous pressure. They very nearly won the game for us. Great work.
The second line of Jeff F, Dr. Mike Jasse, and Pete Capraro worked hard and despite several "no-look" and "looking" passes from both Jasse and Capraro we weren't able to get much going. Jeff missed a break away and a clean shot from about 6 feet both in the third....grrr.
The third group was terrific. Starring Matt Elliott who had the second (game tying) goal for us on an unassisted takeaway in their end. Joined by Dan Gregson and Scott Pounds these guys played a lot of time in the offensive end. Scott and Dan had some great chances, any one of which could have fallen. Great work guys.
We were pretty good at keeping our cool with only "usual suspects" Capraro (1) and Campbell (2) going to the box. Gregson gets big ups for taking a cheap shot from that little snot #10 at center ice well after the whistle. Scott also refrained from retaliation after taking a hit on the boards. Luckily thier punk ass play and mouths put them in rough shape with the zebras by the end of the game.
Alright... Game Stars....
3rd Star: Matt Elliott. Dude is a keepah. Legs moving, motor running, this guy has created chances every night he suits up. Great work. Nice effort on the takeaway unassisted goal to tie it up.

2nd Star: Often underappreciated greybeard Nelson Sharfman. Dude also has a motor that doesn't quit. He was crashing around the offensive zone all night wreaking havok in their end. When he wasn't passing or creating a chance he was shooting or beating someone to the puck. Big ups to you my friend.

1st Star: Perennial favorite of the blogger makes a nice return to the game stars section. Lizzy DeFlurin. A very nice effort with tons of great saves that kept us in this very tight game. Lizzy brought it this week, especially when we needed her. She played both games winning one (8-3 for the Suds) and last night's tie (2-2). Nice work babe. Great to see you back in form.

Zombies tonight vs Double Runners HinghamC 1020

Cadavers (12) vs Double Runners
Hingham C 10:20pm

Lets get a good turn out for tonight team. The Dbl Runners have gotten over on us pretty well this year and we need to make a good showing. We beat this team 4-0 the first time we met them back in May. That was Lizzy's first shutout on the year and I recall we had a good squad that night. The next three meetings were not so good. 11-3 loss on 6/6, a 4-2 loss on 6/13, and a 4-7 loss on 6/27. So we are only 1-3 on these guys and we only get one more crack at them after this (as the Suds). It seems they have benefitted from some roster improvement and free agent pickups (sometimes at game time) so we should be ready for it. All in all it looks like most of those games were pretty close and with the solid lineup I see scheduled for tonight I'm sure we will be fine. Lets try to stay over .500 as team Zombie (5-5-1 right now).
Here is the roster as far as I know it. If you know you can't make it email management right away.

Roster + Lines
D1: Campbell, James
D2: DWH, K.Manning

F1: George, Nelson, Scott
F2: Jeff F, Capraro, Jasse
F3: Gregson, Matt E, Dangerous Dave

Pucks...anyone have the plastic bin? Beerman?

That pesky Rubbermaid bucket seems to have gotten away from me since the last Schlidaveur....
Anybody have it?
If you do, are you skating tomorrow night?
No big deal... if we can't find it we'll just trade Greg James back to the outfit he came from and get our other bag of pucks back.
Please comment if you have any information surrounding the wereabouts of the bucket.
Management thanks you.
Also Beerman for tomorrow night?
We're now taking volunteers.

Suds soak the Generals

Schlitz (10) vs Generals
Monday July 23, 2007
Quincy 10:30pm

8-3 Win!

The frothing suds showed some "Gusto" last night with a very nice 8-3 win over our old friends (this season at least) the Generals. Both squads have done very well against this team whenever we draw them, and I'm sure they are tired of us. Its too bad we don't have any more games scheduled against the Gen's, so we won't get another crack at them unless we see them in the playoffs. If you combine the squads we went 5-0 against the Gen's with 24 goals against them (we gave up only 6). Only one game was very close and that one was won in the last seconds by Chris Fosdick preserving a 2-1 win. Nice work. Lets hope they sign up for the winter.
Back to last night's action.
The night started with a thin turnout. Only seven players when the puck dropped. Sully joined the team in the first and then Ken and iJosh rounded the team out to ten. Larry was overheard on the bench saying: "That was a loooong five minute first shift."
The forward lines broke down like this. Jasse-Sullivan-Matvey,and Roman-IJosh-Ken. Defensive groupings were Larry and Mike Hammitt and then Bill Pearlman and Kevin Parker.
The biggest story of the night was Jim Sullivan and his 4 goals. Reports of a few niffty ones have been trickling in today. Great work around the net Jim.
Not far behind was Larry Bell with 3 assists from the D. We all know Larry doesn't prefer to play D but it sounds like he got the job done and then some last night. Thanks Larry.
His partner Mike Hammitt had a goal and by all accounts had some very nice shots on net.
Also making his mark on D was Bill Pearlman who had the first goal of the game to start us off and played great all night.
Forwards of note were Dr.Jasse (2 assists), iJosh (1 goal, 1assist), and Matvey (1 goal). For the next few "honorable" mentions we are going to take it right from an eye-witness report. Here we go:
"Not showing up on the scoresheet but contributing mightiliy were...
Roman: Shifty in the offensive zone and created some nice ops. Actually had a goal on a zippy low wrister that went in but through a hole in the netting next to the post. Refs missed it. Too bad, it was a helluva shot. Not only did Romin bring beer but he brought New Castle. Delish!
Ken Goldenberg: Perhaps Ken's best game in [my] opinion. Constantly beating his opponent to the puck and disrupting their attempts to gain possession. Skated hard and played strong positionally all night.
Kevin Parker: Such a good addition to the team. Solid defense-man (again, on a night when we needed it due to lack of true D) and got off a couple of nice bombs from the point.
Lizzy: Played a very solid game particularly in the first where she made a number of key saves."
Excellent reporting. Big ups from the blogger on the updates sent in for this game. Just tremendous work. The only other thing I'll note is that another report mentioned Kevin Parker taking a tough hit and getting up slow...but like a true Schlidaveur he finished his shift and the rest of the game. Hope he's feeling better....
Lets do the game stars.....
3rd Star: Dr. Michael Jasse. 2 points on the night and first rate reporting of the events of the game. Its easy to win the blogger over when you collect the stats and tell me a good story. Great job. Thanks!
2nd Star: iJosh. For 2 reasons....actually 3. 1st. He had a goal and an assist. 2nd. I don't see his name here as often as I should (give the boy some props!). and 3rd It will piss off Larry that I passed him over for a game star. (get over it...you played D)
1st Star: Jim "Sully" Sullivan. With four goals on the night Jim has firmly placed himself in the lead for goal scoring on the combined roster. He now has 11 goals (next closest is 7) with 3 assists for 14 points.
I will mention that Larry's 3 assists bring his assist total to 12 and with his 4 goals he now leads the combined scoresheet with 16 points.
Great work from everyone. The suds are now 6-3-1 and looking good down the stretch.
Big props to Pregamers Dr.Jasse, The Hammer (Mike Hammitt), and Billy "The kid" Pearlman. (maybe "the kid" isn't the way to go with Bill, but hey we'll take suggestions on a nickname...) They came through with 2 goals and 2 assists...despite the fog. Way to hold up tradition boys.

Printable Roster

Well team. Here is a roster for printing if you are headed to a game (tonight for example) that may not have any management representatives in attendance. (Jeff or Matt). You should be able to click on the image then print it from your browser. Anyone who actually does this could drop me a line to let me know how it works out.

I'll try to figure out a link or something so that the post doesn't get lost as the season goes on.

Good luck....

If only we could do this with the pucks and water bottles....

Stat updates... Rosters

Some Stats here for all you "whores..."

As per usual click on the image to actually read it.

This is combined scoring through 20 regular season games (out of a scheduled 31....then playoffs [3 each team]) so you could call it 2/3's of the way.

Check out the new names and faces in the top five will ya. Kevin Parker has been on a serious tear and has launched himself right into the #1 spot. Great work. Notice Larry Bell wasn't out of the top five for very long (tied for 1st in points with 13) grabbing the #2 spot. Jim Sullivan and Nelson Sharfman have also been men on the move at 3 and 4.

OEJ...relax I have your assist in my head.

The Campbell Award race continues to see strong action with the return of Mike "The Hammer" Hammitt and Larry "Let 'em know you're there" Bell edging out the award's namesake. This race promises to go right down to the wire.
Good work by everyone. In general the Schiltz have come back to form and have a winning record again (5-3-1) while the Cadavers have slipped a bit lately coming back to .500 (5-5-1). Lets have good games this week and keep those numbers on the positve side.
If I've left anyone out or screwed anything up....please let me know.

Now.... Rosters for this week.

Suds down Kittys. Shutout win over Tigers.

Schlitz(9) vs. Tigers
Tuesday July 17th
Milton Academy 8:10pm

2-0 Win!

Nice night at the rink, especially in light of what happend to the Zombies the night before. Not much consolation if you didn't play both but hey, when one of us wins...we all win. Great turn out effort wise from everyone who showed. We started the game with 10 even but the roster grew as the evening went on. DWH showed at the end of the first period. Matt brought in some "new blood" later in the second when his buddy Blake Underhill made his rookie appearance with the Suds. Big ups to Blake for having the stones to show and play after not being on the ice for close to 4 years. Welcome to the club Blake...now try standing up during your next shift.
In general this was a very even skate. We match up pretty well with the Tigers, red jerseys, a few old Florida Panther away shirts. They didn't have any ringers or standouts which worked well for us. Good chances at both ends, some good passing by both clubs and good solid defensive play.
OEJ gets a round of applause for yet another shutout. Although he was not tested as much in this game (by his own assesment) as in others, it doesn't matter. A zero is a zero, and dude... you are Dr.ZERO. Thanks for the great play.
Our first goal came on a "seeing eye" slapper from Jeff Fosdick that miraculously made it through the traffic in front, and past the keeper for a lead. Big credit to the forwards mucking and grinding, and screening on the play.
The second goal came as a direct result of a nice end to end rush (Guy LaFleur esque...) by Stephan Wennik. He had a tremendous game, with excellent defensive play and some niffty moves that created some offense here and there. Cagey Vet Nelson Sharfman was on the spot and had a nice finish picking up the rebound from Stephan's shot.
Those two would hold up all night. There was lots of chatter going into the third that the next goal was key... It was, because it never happened. Great work by everyone down the streatch to seal this one away.
Lets do the Game Stars.

3rd Star. Nelson Sharfman. He's had a bit of a resurgence in the last few weeks and now finds himself 4th in combined scoring just percentage points behind 3rd place (Jim Sullivan). Nelson now has 4 goals and 6 assists on the year, most of which has come in the last 2 weeks. Great job Nelson... must have something to do with how dashing you look wearing the yellow.
2nd Star. OEJ. Dr.Zero. Mike Gash. Whatever you want to call him. He's solid and keeps turning in great games. Now sporting a 1.13 GAA in 8 games (6-1-1). Thanks.
1st Star. At the request of OEJ... The Entire Defensive Unit. First pairing Stephan and Dan Gregson played great all night turing away chances and creating a few of their own. Second Pairing Jeff and DWH, and Kevin Parker (first period) also played very well in both zones. Good work everyone.

Items of note: Lizzy came by to watch the third period. What a team player. Sore left eye and all, you are welcome any time. Get that lamp feeling better... I dont want to have to start calling you OEL.

Overheard in the Parking Lot 1:
"Man, I rode that guy all the way down the boards."
"Well... its better than getting rubbed out..."

Overheard in the Parking Lot 2:
"...he likes to take it around the back...a lot."
" ...yeah... and he only likes shooting at the goalies back..."

Games Monday night in Quincy and Thursday night in Hingham next week. Both late.
Get your requests into Kilroy now so we can set rosters.
I may do a scoring update (for all you stat whores...) later in the week.

Bad News Zombies. Creamed by the 'goats.

Cadavers (11) vs Scapegoats

Monday July 16

Canton 10:40pm

10-2 Loss.

Definitely a "Bad News Bears" night for the skating dead. Apparently there were a few things to overcome, like no water, pucks, and only 9 skaters showed. Despite the fact that the 'Goats only showed up with 7, apparently they took it to us like the Globe Trotters porking the Generals. From the reports trickling in Lizzy didn't get much help and unfortunately took it on the chin pretty well. We really owe that girl some shutouts. Thanks Liz for hanging in there, I know it isn't easy on nights like this.

Goals from Chris Fosdick, and Larry Bell. Assists to Kevin Parker (on both) and Billy Pearlman (on Larry's). Penalties were one each for Larry, Kevin Manning, and Bill. Not much else to speak of yet.

Management apologizes for the lack of bottles and pucks... we keep losing track of who has 'em. Also it seems we could have called in a few more subs, given the no-show rate. Hard to judge that one, no one likes going with too many, so its a delicate balance.

One story of note had Larry trying to toss a guy's glove over the glass after not getting the penalty that should have been called on him (he threw Larry's stick) and it ending up in the net above the glass instead...and then back onto the ice. Hey... in the net isn't so bad...

No game stars.

Lets have a better turn out, numbers wise, and skating wise, next time around.
The Blogger would like to thank Kevin, iJosh, and Larry for the game info.

Schlidaveur Round 3! Friday Night at the Rock...

Schlitz(8) vs Cadavers(10)
Friday 7/13
Bavis Arena 8:10

Schlitz 7
Cadavers 4

You know the point in the beer commercial where the guys are sitting back, before the crackling fire, large breasted women handing them freshly cooked steaks, and one of them utters..."Now this is what its all about..." ...? I give you Friday night's shin-dig in Rockland... Schlidaveur Round 3. We had a nice little match with lots of Schlidaveur touches like a comeback, some new blood, some penalties, and a tremendous fourth period. "What its all about.." Indeed.
The Zombies have been snake-bit in this season's Schlidaveurs, whith the Mighty Suds now holding a 2-1-0 record in the three games. Keep in mind there are TWO Schlidaveurs remaining before the end of the summer season so there is hope for the skating dead yet.
Friday's game had it all. A quick scramble for some extra bodies was successful and thanks to Dan Murphy (courtesy Dr.Jasse), Brian Sullivan (courtesy brother Jim), and Kris Wood (courtesy OEJ), we were able to skate 8 players a side.
The teams were even picked by our netminders just before the opening draw. At this point management would like to acknowledge First Overal Pick: Pete Capraro. Wow... this guy was rated high on everyone's draft boards but...#1 overall... nice job. Of course this led to the following overheard in the parking lot; "Jesus went second!" which led to me wondering if Jesus is really not as good a prospect as Pete... Well... like I said... the fourth period was tremendous.
This game settled right into a close affair with lots of chances on both sides, but the goalkeepers did a great job keeping the game low scoring through the first two periods. Lizzy and Mike both had great stops and there was lively action in front of both nets.
We ended up at the end of the second period with the Zombies in Red up by one 3-2 thanks to a goal from Pete Capraro, and a helper from Brian Sullivan (who had a goal also). The game stayed close into the third as the other Sullivan, Jim tied the game for the Suds then gave them the lead with his second of three goals on the night (1 empty netter). The game was tied again by Billy Pearlman with a tremendous slapshot fromt the point that got a little helpful misdirections from some jerseys along the way. Now halfway through the third tied 4-4. This was shaping up to be a classic and the Suds delivered with goals by Nelson Sharfman and Larry Bell, (and Jim's empty netter) that sealed the deal going down the streach. The Zombies didn't go without a fight and everyone played strong to the end . The Cads even pulled Lizzy as time wound down and got some more help from a tackle that Larry put on Billy to give the Red a 2 man advantage, but OEJ and the Suds held tight and pulled out the win.

Some items to note on the game.
DJ had a good night with 2 assists for the Cads.
Nelson is back on the scoresheet with avengence with a 5 point night (2g, 3a) for the Suds.
Capraro had the games only other penalty and the fact that he and Matt Kilroy didn't have a "yard-sale" moment is a huge upset. Those two were going after each other all night like crazed dogs... well sort of. Every so often Mad Matt would go flying across the ice... after Pete or in his direction.
Great job by everyone.

Game Stars.
3rd Star. All three subs. Dan Murphy, Brian Sullivan, and Kris Wood. All 3 made significant contirbutions to thier teams. Thanks for coming out everyone. You are all welcome back any time.
2nd Star: Matt Kilroy for once again being a Beerman Hero and bringing SIX Pizzas for the Apres Skate experience. Always solid Matty... you spoil us.
1st Star: Veteran Star Nelson Sharfman. He was everywhere. In the net, in the corner, on the scoresheet. Great game... must be because you love those shirts so much....

The fourth period was all you could ask for given the pizza, beer from Matt, Scott, Dr.Jasse and Lizzy. Good conversation and chow. Leading to some interesting discussion of "Nutbags" See pic.

Scott gets the "Family Man" award for bringing his lovely family to the game. Big ups to Mrs. Pounds and her Daughters for being our fans for the evening... even though they sat in the "luxury suites" chowing Chinese Food (no fools the Pounds girls...). This game also resulted in a number of interesting "Overheard in the Parking Lot" quotes. Let's rattle off a few.

"That guy Smeagoled him..."
"Well it's better than getting rubbed out..."

"I'm in no hurry... have to give the wife time to get rid of her hockey night boyfriend..."
"I've been trying to get my wife to get one of those. Give me his email... I'll send him the schedule... hey, do what you want, just so long as I can play hockey."

"Who should I have picked.... Jesus F*in Christ?" This I think led to the "Jesus went second" bit...

Well... thats all I got. As always, comments are welcome and encouraged. Throw something in if you don't see it here.
Good luck to the Cads tonight. Good luck to the Suds on Tues. Updates on both games probably Wednesday.

I guess I do have one more thing.

Big Congratulations go out to Mike Campbell and his wife Laura. She did all the hard work and delivered a healthy baby boy Harrison McKinney Campbell on Thurday evening at 5:45pm. All the best to the newborn and your family from the Schlidaveurs.

That smell in the air... Schlidaveur Aroma!

Schlidaveur Round 3
Friday Night 8:10
Bavis Arena Rockland
Alright team. The time has come again. Time to pick your sides, pick on your teammates, and pick a wedgie... no wait scratch that last one.
Is everyone excited for the next 'daveur?
By everyone I mean those of you that dont...
A. Have something better to do.
B. Are nursing some injury (BS or not)
C. Have some lame excuse like your wife giving birth.
According to management we are looking for players tomorrow night. If you have any prospects send Matt or me an email. Jim Sullivan has already stepped up and recriuted his brother. Lets try to get a few more bodies so that we can play with more than say 7 on 7. That might make for a more enjoyable scenario for all of us.
Also management is interested in anyone that is willing to step up for Beerman and or Post game chow duties. Any and all volunteers will be accepted.
The front office is also considering a game time spliting of the squads given the numbers. We think it may be best just to asses who is there and then divy up the groups as evenly as possible. Any suggestions are welcome.
Any smack talk in the comments section is welcome.
Hell, anyone is welcome. So come on now Schlidaveurs. Lets get this thing pumped up. Bring a friend, make a call, let us know. Lets have some fun tomorrow night.
See you all then.

Zombies win, has a nice ring to it...

Cadavers (9) vs. Windsuckers
Bavis 10:30
Monday 7/9/07
8-4 Win!
A nice win against the CH Terriers who were dressed in Purple and calling themselves the Windsuckers. Almost the same exact roster of guys (and 2 girls) who hung it on us back in May. They had their spiffy skaters again, but this time we had a few of our own. They have a no-face shield guy up front and a young guy (wearing one teal sock and #7) who have the goods. We recruited a player from a previous game (things were looking very thin in the locker room just before game time) to round us out to 10 players. The sub, a guy named Steve, and sub/regular Kevin Parker added some nice depth and made it quite a competitive contest. Nice up and down action for most of the game. Kevin and Steve accounted for 5 of our 8 goals, but management has absolutely no "ringing" regrets given the way these guys stuck it to us last time.
We have Lizzy and her seemingly endless connections to thank for the addition of Steve. Big ups to her. Steve was one of those guys that skates so smooth it looks like he isn't even trying. He's welcome back anytime....
Kevin Parker played great with 4 goals skating on a forward line with Larry (3 assists) and Matvey (2 goals). Nine points is pretty good guys. Looks like we are going to have to give Kevin his own place on the stat sheet given that he just jumped up into first place in scoring. Nice work dude....I think we'll keep ya.
The second forward line was made up of Scott, iJosh, and Ken. They put in some excellent shifts, getting good solid chances, and making the other guys work. iJosh had a goal, Scott had an assist, and Ken drew 2 penalties and took 1 (+1 for the night...). I think Ken will be feeling the second one today for a while. Good work out there.
Our gal Lizzy returned to form with a very solid performance. She made a number of nice stops and even came out and played the puck a couple of times. Great job babe, nice to have you back.
The defense pairings were Steve and George M., and Jeff F. with Mike Hammit. Hammit did a good job not touching anyone or anything after taking his second penalty just a minute or two into the second period. Nice to see you finish the game partner. George had a great night with a pair of assists but had to leave early with a little problem.
Seems that late in the third George knocked down a puck with his glove but it caught him just right and basically "blew up" the end of his finger. He went to the bench streaming blood like a true hockey player (pleasing the hockey gods...no doubt) but called it a night. After some nice help from Kevin and Steve (those guys did everything last night) getting the wound bandaged up he went off to get it looked at. Let's hear from George about how the rest of the night went.
" I was at the Mount Auburn Emergency room until 3:00 AM this morning. The diagnosis: avulsion of the finger tip with significant skin loss (found the skin in my glove later). The finger tip bone is also broken. Only got 5 stitches. Could have had double that, easily. However, there wasn't much viable skin to stitch. It's like my finger tip blew up...weird. The docter really had to think about how and what he was going to stich. The ER essentially stabilized the wound to try and save as much tissue as possible, and used a clotting agent to stop the bleeding where there was no skin. I have a follow-up appointment with a hand specialist today, to see if there is anything else that can or needs to be done.
...Please thank Kevin and Steve for me for the first aid after the game, in the blog. I don't know how I would have driven to Watertown without the temporary bandage. I would have bled all over my car."
Just excellent. George gets the highest marks available as far as the blogger is concerned.
Lets do the game stars.
3rd Star: Matvey Nikhamik and Larry Bell. Matvey did a nice job with 2 goals and hard work all night. Like wise for Larry with his 3 assists.
2nd Star: Kevin Parker. He just keeps producing. 7 goals, 3 assists for 10 total points in only 4 games played. That is a ridiculous 2.5 PPG. Great work.
1st Star: Has to be George "The Bleeder" Moorachain. Hope you recover soon. You can tape it up and still play...right...?

Scoring Update and tonight's roster

Scoring Update.... about mid-season.

A quick scoring update for all you stat hounds. After some careful data collection there was a re-assesment of goals and assists coming from the last Schlidaveur event. This is no surprise given the outrageous score of that contest. Sub Kevin Parker (quickly climbing the leaderboard in production) was shorted a pair of goals and an assist. These do come at a cost to Fosdick Brother #1 (Chris) who had a great night that night.... just not a Super-Human night. Chris and Kevin split the scoring by guys wearing #2 that night and will have 2 goals and 1 assist each.

That has led to a very interesting arrangement atop the points leaderboard. See the new leaderboard right here....

Note: If you are not listed on either catagory it is because you have no points or penalties.
Check out the Points leaders. Newcomer and rising star Matt Elliott is kicking butt and taking names with a well balanced 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points so far. Also of note is team goal scoring leader Dangerous Dave Spenciner. Check out the logjam of guys with 7 points... Good solid work there from newcomers Jim Sullivan and Kevin Parker. Kevin has been listed as Substitute X ...figuring that we may have more than one guy filling that role. So far he has scored the only points of any of the subs. There was one Game Played by another guy (Matt Cicciari) but all the production is Kevin's. Great work everyone ... should be a fun second half.

Alright... down to the business at hand.

Flying Zombies KO Generals

Cadavers(8) vs Generals
Monday July 2
Quincy 7:00pm

6-0 Win.

A nice night at the rink. Decidedly better than losing...is winning. An early game at the Quincy Youth Arena for a Monday night with a nice turnout from the Zombies against our old friends the (Washington) Generals. We started with 11 (lost 1 along the way) and played solid for all three periods. There was a "general" consensus of muttering about seeing these guys another 6 or so times before the end of the season. Unfortunately I don't think that's going to happen but hey, we'll take as many of these types of games as we can get.

Great job by both forwards and Defensemen keeping the puck in the attacking zone for a large part of the game. Some nice passing, and to quote Dr.Jasse a few "Tic Tac Toe" setups. Not all ended in goals but enough did to make a comfortable evening of it. These nights turn into confidence boosters and hopefully we can build on it for the second half.

Good night from the front line of Jim Sullivan, Matt Elliott, and Dangerous Dave Spenciner. Those boys collected no less than 5 goals and 2 assists for a dominant 7 point night. Larry Bell (late arrival) did an excellent job rotating through the forwards and collected a goal and a helper on his way. Larry later moved back to D, but we'll have more on that later....
What can you say about Dangerous Dave? He just keeps pouring it on. Another two goals (6 on the season) and a couple of great backchecks that made the D proud. Outstanding work Dave. Sully had a couple of nifty tallys (2 goals 1 asst.), the second a real gem on a turnover (he created) then a slick finish with a wrister. The keeper never had a chance. Matt Elliott had lots of chances and continues his good work with a goal and an assist. He was given some serious 4th period business by D.G. for not finishing on a nice feed.
The second line of IJosh, DJ, and Dr.Jasse was a nice producer all night too. Sometimes it doesn't show on the scoresheet but they did very consistant "mucking and grinding" all evening an had no small amount of quality chances themselves. DJ continues to have the "knack" (re:skill) of being right where she needs to be almost 100% of the time. Not always a dominating physical performance but DJ often comes up with very important poke checks that either stop the other team's momentum or cause a turnover for us. She did this last night on no fewer than 3-4 occasions.
Defensive pairings worked well with DWH and Dan Gregson (I sense we need a nickname here...post comments) as the starting pair and Jeff F. with Mike Hammitt (first half of the game) then Larry (second half) as the second pairing. Another Uber-solid performance by DWH. He collected a pair of assists and continues to be, in the blogger's opinion, our most sound defender (or player overall).
This brings us to the play of OEJ. Another zero for the keeper that never quits. Bad lamp and all, this guy has been Doctor Zero for us. Mike Gash has given up only 1 goal in his last 3 starts for us lowering his GAA to 0.83 and going 4-1-1 over his six total starts. He has had 2 shutouts and 3 games with only 1 against. Top shelf work my friend...top shelf.
Now we move to the man we lost about halfway through. Mike Hammitt has had a good return to the Schlidaveurs but I think its a good thing that the 'coon is going on vacation this week and doesn't have much time. He did tell me that he has his eye on him though....so keep it in mind. Hammitt left us about halfway through the game when after a brief scuffle some face to face jawing led what it usually does...Ham hitting someone and that someone hitting the ice. That was enough for the Zebras to usher Ham to a front row seat outside the glass (and a top spot in the Campbell Award race). Remember...the Coon is watching.
Game Stars.
3rd Star: Dangerous Dave Spenciner. Another 2 goals. You can't stop him. You can only hope to contain him.
2nd Star: Jim Sullivan. Two beautiful goals, one unassisted and a helper. Excellent effort all night.
1st Star: OEJ... or Doctor Zero if you will. Another shutout from the man in the spanking new Zombie shirt. Great job.

An early game means the glory of the fourth period. IJosh and Dr.Jasse get the Apres Skate award this week for not only bringing beer, but being the last men standing. Excellent work gents. Kudos to the good doctor for the pics. The blogger loves the pics.....
