4-2 Loss

A hard fought game against a tough opponent. Zombie pride was on display last night as the Red Skating Dead took on the Scapegoats in Canton.
Good turnout (all scheduled 11) and a good matchup. The Red took the early lead on a goal from the Russians. Roman Kurin put one in with the helper from Matvey Nikhamik. The Goats came back and tied the game before the end of the period. Early in the second the Goats scored again to go up 2-1 but the Zombies had no desire to go quietly. Nelson Sharfman tied the game with some help from Dangerous Dave Spenciner to keep things tight going down the stretch.
The only penalty of the game for the Cads was by Jim Sullivan. Sully took an interference/holding that was a breakaway saver. "...it was actually more of a great tackle from behind with the Scapegoat slamming into the boards and Jim sliding into him to add to the pain)". Sweet.
Alas things didn't go the way of the dead in the third period, but there was no lack of fire from both sides. Aparently in the third period OEJ decided to take matters into his own hands after taking some "stuff" in the crease. Apparently enough was enough.
Here's a first hand account.
"Tough fought game. In fact there was indeed a fight. After OEJ took offence ... at being run after a break away a little stand off ensued. Some pushing and yelling and one Scapegoat challenging OEJ to "Fight after school".
Order was restored and play resumed. A few minutes later the Scapegoats scored (and with my limited view from the bench) saw George cross check the Scapegoat followed by OEJ jumping into a pile, skates in the air with his helmet ripped off, punching the opponent who was being held down by George."

"There was a little rough stuff at the end of the 3rd.
Mike got run into and was sticked all game....he was not happy with them.
Surprisingly a little scrap went on and Mike became a 3rd goalie in with a bear hug and "my blocker and helmet were off so I gave him kidney punches"....no penalties called.
I guess there is an unwritten rule if you are in a scrum and the goalie jumps in from behind all penalties are null and void..."
Nice. Good stuff there. Nice to see the fire behind the mask.
Well by the end of the final frame the Goats had 2 more goals and solidified a 4-2 win for themselves. Tough one, but it sounded like a tight one and no let down in Zombie Pride.
Not much postgame but for a few cold ones in the locker room brought by BD. (Bearded Dan).
No game stars in a loss but lets do some Honorable Mentions.
