RedDaddys win Whosyourdaddydaveur!

Schlitz (8) vs Cadavers (7)

Monday November 16

Umass Boston 7:00

Schlitz 4

Cad-Dads 6

The Who’s your Daddy Daveur was featured last night at the Prison by the Bay. The fathers, playing at the Dead in Red (possibly a comment on the amount of sleep they receive) faced off against the Non-Daddy Schlitz (possibly a reference to the “gusto” of the good life) in a game that was, as usual, a pretty good matchup. This was a terrific team split concept and major ups go to CEO Daddy BMF Matt Kilroy for coming up with it. The concept worked perfectly and we only had to adjust with one player given the turn out, so new Dad Dan Herbert played with the Suds to even out the squads at 9 each. Dan had the youngest child of any of us… Here are your Team Breakdowns.

Cad-Daddys’

Matt in net

D: Dave DiLoretto, Mike Daley, Jeff Fosdick

O1: Larry Bell, Nelson Sharfman, Mike Jasse

O2: iJosh Greenstein, Ken Goldenberg, Blake Underhill

Schlitz-Non-Dads (or in this case new or almost Dads)

Lizzy in Net

D: Dan Herbert, Greg James, Marc Valenti

O1:Matt Elliot, AK Douville, Roman Kurin

O2: Neil Shah, Mike Goodwin, Dan Gregson

The game would start off pretty well and the teams would settle in and get into the flow a bit. It only took 2 players and 3 explanations to both the Ref and Katie the scorekeeper (a Umass staple) to get them to figure out that both teams rosters were on the same piece of paper. That aside the game got going and got up to speed pretty quickly.

Nice to have some fans in the stands for this one. Appropriate to the theme we had Family Night at the home of the Beacons. The Goldenbergs, Greenstiens, and Jassess were all in attendance and the squeek of little voices echoed around the rink as the dads and dudes wheezed it out on the ice. Thanks to everyone that made it.

The Beercans would be the first to strike. Goody would land a wicked shot from the slot after a pass from Valenti and Neil. This came at the 11 minute mark of the first. The ‘cans would continue to build on their momentum as the Reddaddys wouldn’t be able to really get anything going offense wise.
It wasn’t until the 330 mark of the first when the Red would put something nice together and the Cagey Vet Nelson would land a nice shot on a feed from Larry and Daley. The game would go into the first intermission tied 1-1.

The second period would see a bunch more action as the offenses would warm to the task. The Gold would be the next to strike when Goody would land a fierce shot that came from a feed by Neil and the Schltiz would be up 2-1. Not long after that the things would continue to get difficult for the Dads when Mike Daley would go for interference with about 10 minutes left in the second. The Dads would be up to the task and would kill the penalty but the momentum was definitely in Gold's favor. In fact the goal combo of Neil to Goody would come through again, on a very similar setup if I recall(iffy). I just remember Goody in an open space and a good shot that beat Matt. The Kidless Beercans were now up 3-1.
The tide was soon to change however, and only minutes later Mike Jasse would land a shot from iJosh and the Red Dads would only be down one, 3-2. Before the period was out they would strike again, this time iJosh with the goal from Chris and the period would end in a 3-3 tie.

Onto the third we would go. A tie game and both teams clearly in the groove. The first nearly 10 minutes of the third would go back and forth, up and down the ice with good chances at both ends, both keepers playing very well. Greg James (he'll be playing for the Dad's next year) would go for hook at some point in the early going.

The kids in the stands were clearly having a great time... weather it was watching the game or playing with each other (most likely the latter)... but it was cool to have them in the building regardless. Maybe it was the children that inspired the Dads... because the third would start to go their way, led by Big Doctor Daddy Mike Jasse who was doing some great work with his line. Nelson would be in full grind it out in the corners and down low mode and would feed Mike for the go ahead goal at the 8 minute mark.

Credit to the Kidless Beercans they would answer to keep the game tied at 6 minutes when AK Douville would score on a breakaway (I think).

Not a minute later the Nelson to Jasse combination would give the Red Dads another goal putting them up 5-4 at the 5 minute mark. And the Dad's weren't finished yet. Mike Daley would seal the deal with the help of Double Vision Dad Larry. Daley's goal would come with 3:15 remaining and the Dads would hold on for the last 3 minutes and win the game 6-4 to much celebration. Good stuff. Really a fun game.

Big Kudos to the families that made it and a shout out to the Kids! Madison Jasse (very proud of her Hat trick dad), Lewis and Elliot Greenstein, Robyn and Max Goldenberg! Thanks for coming guys!

Game Stars

3rd Star: A tie here between two three point guys. Nelson Sharfman with a goal and two helpers for the Red Dad cause. Nelson is always a contributor and a leader in effort on the ice and this night was no exception. The other is Nifty Neil Shah with 3 helpers for the Kidless Beercans. Neil is also turning out to be a very consistent producer. Good work guys.
2nd Star: A Hat Trick in a losing effort, still good for a game star. Mike "Goody" Goodwin. All of them wicked shots. Mental note... get Goody the puck in open space as many times as possible... unless you are playing against him. Nice Job Goody.

1st Star: Big Hat Trick Daddy Dr. Mike Jasse. Three goals and a multiple game scoring streak for the good Doctor. The Blogger doffs his hat to you sir, and apologises you had to wait so long for this blog post. Great work Mike.

Tonight! Who's Your DaddyDaveur!

Schlitz vs Cadavers
Monday November 16th
UMass Boston 7:00pm

That's right Team... we finally figured out a gimmick for this week's Schlidaveur experience and this is it. Those with kids will skate as the Cadavers, those without will skate as the Schlitz. See below for the roster breakdowns... just in case you can't recall if you have any kids or not....

Don't forget to give yourself time to get there even though the game is early. Also remember that the State Troopers have been carefully patroling around the campus and have been pulling folks over for going just over the speed limit... so keep your eyes open.
Here are you MondayDaddyDaveur Rosters.

Suds versus Sputniks in nightcap

SCHLITZ (7) vs SITNIKS
Monday November 9th
UMASS 8:10 PM

9-1 Loss

The nightcap game featured a rivalry with some of our own good friends and 'daveurs. The Sitniks feature regular 'daveurs Roman Kurin and Matvey Nikhamik so its always fun to play against those guys... Although they had plenty of players and let us keep Matvey who joined a bunch of guys who had just played against the Windsuckers to face the RED MENACE.
It didn't go well. Think opposite of the cold war.
Let me put it this way... by the time the blogger left the building it was 3-0 Sputniks and that was with 8 minutes left in the first.
Here's Positive Pete Capraro with a recap.
Second period, The goal by Baker Assisted by Shah and Capraro.Second period,
Campbell sin bin for roughing in first. Chris Foz for checking.3rd period Hammit for holding.

That's it. 9 goals against.
My only blog comment is that it looked like after game 2 Larry the stat whore, with a big smile on his face, approached the score keeper that he berated with anatomical verbal gestures a few games back to make amends. Looked like he even showered and shaved the landing strip on his face for the approach.
What a beating, but I like that faster skate, I think we did alright for the first few seconds in the first period until they scored.
Thanks Pete. Well. I think we are just going to leave that right there and move on to sunnier topics.

Zombies vs Windsuckers Early game

CADAVERS (6) vs WINDSUCKERS
Mon, November 9th
UMASS 7:00

3-1 Win!

This was game one for what will hopefully be our last double header night... and really hopefully the last we see of U Malcatraz....
The early game saw the flying Zombies taking on the Windsuckers, a group we haven't played in a while. They had some players with skill, but not a ton and the game was a good, hard fought, hard skating affair that bordered on getting a bit out of hand at times with the chippyness but ultimately resulted in a very nice win for Team Zombie.
The roster looked like this.
Matt CEO/BMF Kilroy in the Net
D1: Campbell, Valenti
D2: DWH, Jeff
O1: Nelson, Larry, Reynolds
O2: Jasse, Capraro, and Baker
O3: Elliot, Gregson, and Matvey

The game was chippy pretty much from the start. There was no question the 'Suckas were going to show plenty of "give and take" during the game. They also had no problem squawking about just about everything. Finally we play a team that mouths off to the Zeebs... though somehow when looking at the score sheet it doesn't seem that they had any more penalties that we did.
The teams settled in and went right after each other. It wasn't long before that wicked first line of Larry, Nelson and Mark Reynolds would make something happen.
Mark held the puck and fed Nelson who was working his way down low by the net. Nelson takes the puck, the defenseman hangs on him like a cheap suit, to which the Cagey Vet literally tosses him off and into the boards then fires a pass to Larry who buries the shot for the first goal. Check me on that... the scoresheet says Nelson scored it but I do remember the move on the back boards and the feed pass...
Again the chippyness shows and gets ratcheted up. Jeff tangled with #4 from the 'Suckas and took a holding call as a result. The Red killed the penalty very nicely and shortly after they had another chance.
This time Jeff made a rush into the offensive end, then fed Larry who again was hanging out in the high slot. Larry's shot was solid but deflected, all to the better as it found the twine over the keeper's right shoulder. 2-0 Red. Capraro would go for a roughing before the end of the first.
The second period was a whole lot of back and forth. Matty made some great stops, on two, count 'em breakaway chances. The Red would take a pair of penalties Larry for a hook and Valenti for a rough. Valenti's might have been a match but I can't recall.
The Third would again see more of the same. Bitching from the White, chippy play all over the place, great stops by Matty, and good chances from the Red. About halfway into the period Dr. Jasse would take a feed from Mike Campbell who had made a very nice rush up ice, and Jasse roofed the shot for the 3-0 lead. This was great because the good Doctor's wife and daughter, the lovely Beth and Madison were in the house to watch the game. I dont think they actually saw the goal... but they knew it happened and it was nice to have a couple of fans... even if they were mostly reading Madison's favorite chunky books.
Campbell would go for an interference call... a situation where both he and the 'sucka he bumped were looking at something else and they ended up in a pile. Of course the Zeebra still felt the need to put Mike in the box... I guess just 'cause he was so much bigger than the other guy. I'm telling you... nobody gets more minutes because of his size than Campbell...
The game would go into the final five minutes with the White desperate to score to break up the shutout. Unfortunately they were able to finally break through with just under 3 minutes to play.
That would leave just the straggling minutes of frustration for the 'suckas. The scumbag that had tangled with Pete, Jeff, Matt Elliot, and had slashed Matt during the game decided it was time for one good cheep shot before the end. He took the opportunity to hit Jeff from behind against the boards in a blatant DOUCHEBAG move. Of course the pussy skated away so by the time Jeff was on his feet the guy was almost back to his bench and being escorted to the box. A true pussy move from #4, Mr. No face mask... the scoresheet says his name is Boyajriar... whatever... we know what he is. A coward. Keep you head up for the next time we play scumbag. Ok thats enough of that... the blogger is still smarting this morning.
Game Stars
3rd Star: Matty Kilroy.
Another in a series of great games from the star CEO keeper this season.
2nd Star: Mike "Dr." Jasse for the third goal... and for bringing fans.
1st Star: Larry "Twins" Bell. A pair of goals for the double vision daddy.

So during a stop-over on the way home at the Dr. Jasse residence...
From Mrs. Jasse who watched the game with... limited interest: "Was that the gay team you played?" Yes Beth... judging by the amount of bitching from them... yes it was.

Another Double Header Monday at U-Ass

Come on and join the fun at the Prison by the Bay tonight.

Hopefully, thanks to Schlidaveur management pressure, this will be our last night of doubling up. It looks like we've got a good group of players for both games.

Lets have a good night, and to be SURE lets get over on those Sitniks... especially that Roman guy that plays defense...

Zombies win Superfun Saturdaveur!

Cadavers (5) vs Schlitz(6)
Saturday November 7th
Canton 7:40 pm

Zombies 3
Beercans 2

A great night at the rink for a Saturday night Schlitdaveur in Canton. Decent but not terrific turn out, but enough for two pretty evenly stocked teams. Managment had put out the call for guest general manager's but not a single 'daveur "rose to the bait". Oh well. That left managment with a couple teams to pick in a short time on Friday afternoon. The teams were selected hastily and the groups showed up for fun on Saturday night in the early evening for a classic 'daveur showdown.
Here's how the rosters broke down.
Schlitz
Mickey (fill in goalie from Lizzy) in net
Chris Foz, Mark Reynolds and a fill in guy from the Terriers on D
Hammit, iJosh, AK and Scott, Nelson and Capraro on Offense for the Gold.

Cadavers
Jeff Foz, George, and Steve Baker on D
Jasse, Daley, and Daley's brother in law Mike, and Roman, Chuck and Gregson on Offense for the Dead in Red.

A few roster and pre-game notes before we get started. Firstly Kudos to Lizzy for finding her own replacement, that's the type of initiative we like here at Schlidaveur International, and Mickey did a nice job filling in. Thanks to him for showing.
The teams were far from "stacked" with players so there was some last minute jockeying for guys. Hammitt and Nelson would show late for the Gold and due to a few dropouts they recruited the guy from the Terriers that had played the game before. Sorry I didn't catch his name. This might not have been necessary if they hadn't shooed Roman out of the room a few minutes before.
Roman was originally scheduled to play with the Gold but when he walked into their room some of the Gold told him he was supposed to be with Red. He told the Matvey couldnt make it (he was supposed to skate with Red) they basically said to go play with the Cads. Jeff would make a quick trip to the Gold room to verify that they were giving up Roman and gladly took the Russian and told him he was expected to score some goals against the guys that didn't want him.
This of course meant that Jeff would then have to talk Steve Baker into playing D with he and George. Steve wasn't happy about it, but after hearing Jeff out for a few minutes rose to the task and played great all night as part of the Red D troika.
So, due to the late arrivals the Gold were truly shorthanded (no subs or 1 sub) for something like the first 8 to 10 minutes of the game. The Red who would start with thier full complement of 9 would take advantage.
Not 10 to 15 seconds into the game Mike Daley would make a beauty of a rush that would finish with a brilliant flourish and wrist shot that would give the Red the early game lead 1-0. The Zombies were wise to press the issue in the early going as the Gold was still thin benched. A few minutes later the 2nd Goal would be scored by Dan Gregson from Jeff around boards behind to Greggy who landed it from the doorstep. 2-0 Red about halfway through the period.
Its interesting to note that at some time shortly after that second goal Nelson showed up and the Gold had enough bodies to get some rest and the game settled down quite a bit.

The game was pretty competitive and it wasn't long before George and Hammitt were tangled in a short lived mutual "slash-a- thon" that sent them both to the box for cooling off. The sides would skate 5-5 with the matching call.

The Gold would show they were not going to just hang in the game when Mark Reynolds took the puck and started a hard rush out of his zone. By the time he was done he'd passed everyone on the ice and deposited the puck behind Kilroy and brought the game under control to make it 2-1. Thats how the first would end.

The Second was the typical grind as the two teams would go at each other up and down the ice. Hammitt would make another trip to the box after a brief tangle with Dr. Jasse. The two exchanged "veiws" and then as Hammitt got the last shove Jasse went down like a sack of potatoes and drew the call. Jasse had no problem admitting he dove like a soccer player and the result paid off with a power play for the Red.
No blood on the power play and really the momentum continued to swing in the Gold's direction as they got a few more chances on Kilroy. At the end one rush Capraro ended up on his back at Matt and Jeffs feet right on the side of the net. Jeff took the opportunity to talk smack to Pete and rub it in a bit. Capraro would then proceed to outwork the Red D along with linemate AK and would shut up Jeff after he poked a rebound/pass from AK into the net past a sprawling Kilroy to tie the game. AK and Peter were both tearing it up all night and got their well deserved points on that play. Jeff apologised to Matt for leaving Pete open... and talking smack.

So thats how we went into the third period 2-2 and a very tight game developing into a dandy.
About midway through the third the game would take another critical turn. Hold the play in the Gold end Jeff would send a long shot toward the net. Roman, the unwanted Russian was there in position and jumped on the rebound/deflection and slammed the puck home for the go ahead goal. That's right friends, the man that the Gold sent away was there collecting the glory for the other side as his team went up with diwindiling minutes in the game.

The Gold was far from done. Nelson had a wicked breakaway shot that was labled and Kilroy came up with the save of the night on that one. Reynolds would also have opportunities but the Gold would be unable to put it all together even after pulling the keeper for the extra man. The Red would have one penalty with about 5 minutes left when Roman would go for a fishy trip call, but the Red would survive the power play and the game ended 3-2 in favor of the Dead in Red.

Good game and a fun night at the rink.
Game Stars
3rd Star: The blogger humbly nominates Jeff Fosdick who wheezed his way to a pair of assists for the Zombies and managed to not give the game away in his own end.

2nd Star: Matty Kilroy for not only a terrific night in the pipes but another phenominal attack of the 6 foot sub during the fourth period. Matty continues to shine in the net and his post game reputation only continues to be legendary. Thanks man.

1st Star: Is there any question? The man in question. The man with the game winning goal for the team who's roster he wasn't even on at the begining of the night Roman Kurin. Our Russian friend was not only able to survive the night of listening to Jeff yell at him from the bench but was also able to exact his cold siberian revenge on the crew that tossed him aside for... no one really. Great work Roman, a well deserved game star.

4th Period Honors to everyone who brought beer, Daley, Chris Fosdick, Chuck, Matt for the Sandwich, Gregson for bringing the sandwich, and anyone else I've missed out on. A cool but nice night for postgame.
It needs to be noted that the 6 foot sandwich continues to run UNDEFEATED against the combined Daveurs. There was talk that at this point the sandwich just laughs at us whenever we unwrap it. "Oh... bitches again. Ha. Call me when you get to 3 feet." We have yet to bring down a whole sandwich. Gregson took home about 2 and a half feet. Someday... someday we may get over on the sandwich... but it wasn't Saturday night.

Overheard in the parking lot... NSWF edition: "No really it will feel good.... like Pop Rocks in your p*ssy." This during a discussion of the spermicidal nature of... Diet Coke.
I'm not kidding.

Suds beat Tigers!

Schlitz (5) vs Tigers
Monday November 2nd
9:30 Canton

4-1 win

A nice Monday night in Canton for a matchup with division rival El Tigre was on tap last night. By all reports it was a good game for the Suds and worked out pretty well. The Tigers had a short bench with only nine skaters to start with, then they would lose a player in the second period after his third penalty. #18 would check himself out and leave the Tigers with only 8.

According to netminder Matt Kilroy they were not able to get much or any sustained pressure in our end for most of the game.
The scoresheet says that Larry scored the first goal less than a minute into the game with a helper from Dr. Jasse. Before the end of the first period the Good Doctor would score one of his own, this one assisted by Steve Baker. This came with 2 minutes left in the first. The Tigers also had one goal in the first. 18 had his first penalty for them during that period.

So 2-1 into the Second. Marc Valenti would score unassisted just about 3 minute into the second to build the lead to 2. 18 for the Tigers woudl take penalties 2 and 3 and take the gate by the seven minute mark. 3-1 after 2.

The third period would see Goody take a call for a hit from behind, then Steve Baker would score at about the 1o minute mark to put the good guys up by 3. Credit Neil and Dr. Jasse (again) for the assists on that goal. The Tigers would take one more penalty but there was no further scoring on the night.

Great work everyone. Nice win.

Game Stars
3rd Star: Matt one goal Kilroy. The new Pappa returns to form.
2nd Star: Goal and an assist for Speedy Steve Baker.
1st Star: A three point night for the Doctor Michael Jasse. Jassman had a goal and two assists and a very good all around night. Nice work Doc!
