Schlidaveur Round 4... The Suds reel one in. *updated*

Schlitz (11) vs Cadavers (13)
Wednesday August 1st
Brockton 10:00pm

Schlitz 8
Cadavers 3
*slight change in Zombie scoring for 3rd period*

A nice Schlidaveur kids, with a solid turnout and some good action. This game was closer than the score would indicate, and really stayed pretty close until well into the second half. There were only 9 for the red and 8 for the yellow at the start but a few more guys trickled in and we ended up with an even 10 on 10 by about halfway through. Not bad for a late wednesday night all the way down yonder in the Brock. Big ups to those that drove a long way and some through traffic on 128 to get there.
The game started out pretty well going scoreless until just after the 12 min mark in the 1st. Then Marvelous Matt Elliot put the Suds on top with some help from a charging, sliding, and passing Mike Campbell. I think I forgot falling (and landing on Chris Fosdick) but you get the point. Matt has certainly developed a nose for the net and he wasn't done by far for the night. The score stayed 1-0 until :30seconds left in the first when Larry (Statman) Bell rung up a nice one with the help of late arriving Kevin Parker.
The game stayed tight and had lots of opportunities for both squads for the beginning of the second until... Matt Elliot strikes again on a feed from Dr. Scott Pounds this time. The game continued to see nice action and the Zombies showed they're grit by finally breaking through when Jim Sullivan put one past OEJ at the 12 min mark, assisted by Matvey. In the bloggers opinion the best flow of the game came for the next 6 min with the score 3-1. A goal by the Zombies could have changed the remainder of the game... but it just didn't happen. Not to be outdone Larry landed another goal on a nice series of passes from Mike Campbell and iJosh (another late arrival).
Things got one sided for a while after that. The Suds reeled in a few more. Unassisted goals by iJosh, Matt Elliott (again), Kevin Parker, and eventually "Bearded" Dan Gregson. The Zombies never let their pride falter and really tied the third period with another goal from Jim Sullivan, assist from Roman Kurin, and finally Dangerous Dave doing what he does on a helper from Nelson.
Blogger thanks the guys who chimed in to get the scoring right. DS, JS, RK, MN.
All in all a pretty well played game for the likes of this crew.
The only penalties to speak of were a bench minor for the mathematically challenged on the Suds squad and Larry "let 'em know you're there" Bell with a nice open field tackel/trip on Mike Hammitt as he came cruising into the Schlitz zone. Hammitt looked hungrily at Bell as he skated away... but did a good job not pile-driving him... and staying out of the box himself.
Good night in net for OEJ, as he stopped several odd man rushes toward the end of the game as the Suds defenders were continually getting *ahem* caught up ice. Not such a great night for our gal Lizzy but... we love her anyway.

Fourth period activities were well attended and hosted by the Magnificent Matt Kilroy and his Grill of Goodness. Matty hooked the crew up with Sausages with onions and peppers, just like being on Yawkey way. Mmmm mmm good. In fact I revisited that flavor a few times this morning....
Major kudos to all Beermen. Kevin Parker. Mike Campbell. Chris Fosdick. And a special blogger gold star for Dr. Jasse. Jasse mailed in the pics below.... great job.

Game Stars.....
3rd Star: Matt Kilroy... nobody does Apres Skate like you dude. Wednesday night, friday night, whatever... its always good. Thanks man.
2nd Star: Jim Sullivan. Good game for Jim with two scores. Like Elliot this dude has a nose for the net. Great effort getting chances all night.
1st Star: Gotta be... Matt Elliot. With a natural 'trick... he was around the puck and in the action all night. Great job.

Can't think of any "overheard in the parking lot" moments... you all are going to have to throw your own into the comments section.

Alright Team... that wraps this one up. Double header next Thursday with both teams playing at 10pm at different rinks. We need full turnout to fill both squads... so get freed up for Thursday.
Until the next time...
Zombie Pride and Suds of Glory

I'm pretty sure Chris Fosdick fell on me, and not the opposite, but I can understand how my graceful moves might lead the Blogger to believe otherwise.
