Dallas err.. Cads crush Windsuckers 6-0!

Cadavers (11) vs Windsuckers...
Dallas vs. Green Bay
Thursday November 29th
Hingham C 10:20pm

Dallas 37
Green Bay 27 err....
Zombies 6-0 Win!

A cold late night in Hingham was just right for the Flying Zombies as they came away with a tremendous showing against a half-hearted Windsuckers club that probably should have just stayed home. Kudos to all the guys that showed and played on a frigid night. They even stayed for 4th period... hearty souls that they are. The Blogger knows this...because even though he didn't skate... he did stop by for a quick game update and a c-c-c-cold one with the 'boys.

The blogger had spent the earlier part of the evening at The Four's in Quincy with his old buddy Malcom watching the Dallas - Green Bay game and swilling tasty pints of ale.... so really he remembers more about the football game than anything that might have been said to him in the parking lot after the hockey game. (lets be honest it was a miracle he could put two sentences together at that point). There were notes take at this point... copious notes, knowing that the memory factor wouln't help much. Those notes are displayed here and if anyone else can figure out what they mean... just drop me an email or call or something.

What it boils down to is this.
These guys skated.

Capraro, Campbell, Elliott, C.Fosdick, Hammit, James, Pearlman, Kurin, Nikhamik, and Wennik. From what I remember 3 guys had 2 goals each.

Pete Capraro, Chris Fosdick, and Roman Kurin.

I have no record of any assists, or penalties.

This is a play along at home blog entry.
If you got an assist (or a penalty) during this game email me. Otherwise the only stats recorded for the game are the 6 goals.

To the left is a photo of the blogger's notes from that night. Anyone who can read them... please tell me what they say.

Overheard in the parking lot 1: "You need a warning label, like on the gas caps...Do not top off!"
Overheard in the parking lot 2: "Science fiction...you mean like Alien sex scenes...?"

Tied up with the Tigers. Suds let one get away.

Schlitz (9) vs Tigers
Monday November 26
Canton 9:20pm

3-3 Tie.

A cold Monday night in Canton for the Suds. Eleven skaters showed (iJosh on the late side so we started and played most of the 1st with 10) but management had to scramble at the last minute due to a goaltender cancellation. Unfortunatly due to the time of day and short notice Matt could get no takers for a fill in appearance between the pipes. So what did the 9 fingered executive of the year do...? He drove to Canton and put on the goalie equipment and played for us so we wouldn't have to forfit the game.

Now, in case you hadn't heard... Matt lost most of his thumb in a little accident about a month ago. For him to get between the pipes was an act of selflessness and courage that we can all appreciate. Not only that... .but he played great! Thanks Matt, from all the skating suds!

This game got off to a wierd start. The Zebras insisted on starting the clock (at 915 on the arena clock no less!) before we were all out on the ice and by the time Kilroy got to the net we had lost over 6 minutes of the first period. This was no fault of his own... the blogger... with questionable sobriety was holding him up trying to tie on his neck guard to his helmet. Anyway the game began and the clock had already run off half the period. A point to remember when skating at Canton from now on. Show up early!

The game started well for the suds, as new defenseman Marc Valenti scored on a scorching slapper, unassisted before the end of the first period. Marc was joined by DHW and Mike Daley, and George Moorachian for the defensive groups. The forwards were Jeff Fosdick, Larry Bell, Chris Fosdick, iJosh, Scott Pounds, Kevin Parker, and Dan Gregson.

The Suds looked strong and took it to the tigers and shortly into the second period broke through again. This time it was Gregson slamming home a nice rebound from DWH and Mike Daley. 2-0 for the suds. The play went up and down, weighted toward the kitty's end of the ice for a long time. Kilroy made some very nice stops along the way to preserve the goose-egg on our side of the scoreboard through the end of 2.

In the third the Tigers broke the ice by squeeking one past Matty to close within one. This was answered promptly by the guys in gold when iJosh put it home from linemates Parker and Pounds. This was the end of the good news for the Shlitz however as the play became more and more shakey down the stretch.

The Tigers scored again at the 10 minute mark and things tightened considerably with chances at both ends. Nothing doing for the good guys, the Tigers got the equalizer with just 2 min left in the game. No fault of Matt's again, just too many chances and too many yellow shirts chasing around the zone.

A nice try and a valiant effort but the suds let this one slip away. Therefore we will give out some Kudos... but no gamestars.

Kudo #1 to the roster for getting 0 (that's right...zero) penalties for the game. Good job!

Kudo #2 for who else but man of the hour and 9 1/2 fingers... Madd Matt Kilroy. Thanks dude.

Fourth period had good representation with Scott, Parker, and Kilroy supplying beer.
Thanks to everyone.
If I've forgotten anything please comment on the post or send me an email.
Thanks

Zombies send the Blues home sad.

Cadavers (10) vs Blues
Tuesday Nov. 20
UMass Boston
9:20pm

2-0 Win!

The Zombies have finally broken the curse of the House of Horrors. That's right, last night, with only 9 guys, and a substitute goalie, the Cads took on our old rival the Blues and came away with the first win at Umass in FIVE trys. Zombie pride was in full effect for this one and everyone who showed deserves a big hand from the crowd.
OEJ was out for this one but the goaltending duties were abley filled by Elli (El-ey) who apparently plays for like 3 teams and I guess just felt like picking up an extra night. Good for us, because by all reports he was awesome. Managment will tap him again as a resource for fill in duty but the search for a full time netminder will likely continue.
Again reports had this one as being a good game, lots of action back and forth. Our old friend and Richard-Head who wears the light blue shorts and #35 was up to his usual bad behavior. Apparently giving it pretty good to Cads vet Ken Goldenberg. We'll have to tuck that away for future reference...hopefully we'll get a chance to thank him for the kindness he bestowed on our guy Ken. Apparently later in the game this loser tried to glove a Marc Valenti slapper and left the ice shaking his hand. Poor fella.

Here's how the squad looked. Valenti, Stephan Wennik, and DWH on D. Dan Gregson, Matt Elliot, Ken, Mike Jasse, Kevin Parker, and Larry Bell on O.

Matt Elliot got the Zombies going on a goal in the second period that came from Gregson. That would prove to be the game winner as the blues were unable to solve the Goalie the rest of the way. Marc Valenti added the insurance goal in the third, Stephan and Larry with the assists.
The Sheet shows that Gregson went off for a trip in the second and there is an unmarked penalty for the third period.
Good game all the way around... good enough for...

Game Stars.
3rd Star. Matt Elliot. Matt is staring to heat up again, now that the "honeymoon" is over and he's finding the net again in his sophmore season with the mighty Schlidaveurs. Great work as always Matt.
2nd Star. Marc Valenti. Another impressive rookie... not to mention Mike Lowell look-alike. (thanks to Magic Mike Jasse for that one). Marc has been a nice addition to our D corps and has had a knack for finding the net... which we always like. Good job.
1st Star. Usually reserved for OEJ... but for this one its Substitute Goalie Elli. A star for not only showing up, but for playing great and earning the zero. Thanks a lot.

Two games next week kids. Get your stories straight with Kilroy....
and have a happy Turkey Day.
BTW if anyone knows where exactly I can get a turkey like this one, stuffed with cheeseburgers....drop me a line.

Suds continue Slide... lose to Streetcones.

Schlitz (8) vs Streetcones
Sunday Nov. 18
Canton 10:20pm

5-7 Loss.

Another in a string of tough nights for our heroes in yellow. Another night when the bench was not what it could have been. A few late drop-outs led to a small number of Suds answering the call, and on top of that the Ref's wanted to start the game at 10:10 instead of the 10:20 on the schedule. That meant the Suds started with only 4 skaters. Woah. They held tough though and didn't let one up while they were down a man. Soon some more bodies trickled in and the Guys in Gold went the distance with just 8 skaters plus OEJ. Kudos to all of you that showed up for this game and obviously gave it your all.
All reports said that it was a good and close game with lots of give and take and good chances at both ends.
The lineup looked like this. On D a 3 man rotation of DWH, Gregson, and Mike Daley. The Forwards were, Roman, Matvey, Jasse, Capraro, and Scott. A hearty bunch to be sure.
The 'Cones put one up on OEJ in the first but the Gold were hangin' tough. The Second period things stared to get wild. The 'Cones put up 4 goals in the second with the Suds only able to answer 1 of those talleys. That goal would be from DWH (Dan Hebert) with the assist going to Magic Mike Jasse.
A quick note on Jasse. No fewer than 3 independent reports (none of them Mike) that gave glowing renditions of the way Dr. Jasse played. Lets here from a few...
"...a few assists from Jasse that were very Gretzky like." Woah... he invoked the holy name of the Great One. Woah.
"...They pulled ahead by four goals, but the Gold kept chipping away, led by some fine passing from Jasse and the Russians who seemed to be able to find DWH open on every shift." good stuff...and finally....
"Speaking of Mike Jasse. Holy crap the dude was flying out there, we may not have scored a goal but he was setting up people left and right. I could not believe it, easily the best player on the ice last night in my opinion. Usually going down the right wing and them setting up people with a drop pass. He set up me up a couple of times at least..."
Alright, alright. Good recap's guys. Great work Mike. Gold star for you.
So chip away the gold did. Starting the 3rd period down 5-1 the gold put up 4... thats right... 4 goals in the third period. Another 2 from DWH and one each from Roman, and Mike Daley. Along the way Daley collected an assist on Roman's goal and Jasse got another one for DWH, and Capraro figured for 2 assists total. Great work everyone.
Unfortunately it wasn't enough. Despite a tussle that took 2 of their guys off the ice, the Schlitz were unable to find the equalizer and down a goal 6-5 they pulled OEJ and the Cones iced it with the dreaded E. N. G.. Sigh. Not to be. Here is the recap on the penalty draw.
"Pete charged down the left boards, fighting off a D and was taken down hard. Not only did he not retaliate (much), but managed to draw two penalties to give us a 5 on 3 advantage. "
another 3rd period recap here...
"We came back strong in the third period with a lot of offensive chances. Roman hit the post 2 times at the end of the game failing to tie the score. We had a couple of scraps at the end as well with Matvey obviously being in the middle of one of them." Little shot at our guy Matvey there that wasn't necessary but good recap anyway.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the blog for this one.
Gregson, Scott, Jasse, Roman, Capraro, and DWH.
Gold star for each of you.
No game stars.... again.
The Suds are now back on a losing streak dropping the last two to fall to 3-4-1.
Lets get 'em next time.

Suds eat it against Spartans.

Schlitz (7) vs Spartans
Thursday Nov 15
Hingham 10:20pm

2-1 loss.

A tough one for our gang in Gold. We were uncertain of numbers pregame but ended up with 12 by the time the puck was dropped. Not bad considering that the Spartans had a light turnout, they started with 7 and ended up with 8 total. As I said to Campbell after the first shift.
"That doesn't mean shit."
Indeed it didn't. Despite scoring first and looking good through the first period, somehow we came out on the losing end of this one.
The first goal came well into the first period when Mike Campbell rifled one past their goalie for the early lead. The assist here is murkey... but it looks like the helper came from Jeff Fosdick. The blogger takes no responsibility for his loss of memory. Now... what was I saying? Dr. Pounds has spoken up and he indeed was in on the assist. Thankfully his brain still works.
Oh yes. The Spartans, who decided that they wanted to get a little pissed off at the fact they were losing to us, took their game up a bit. After a contentious scramble in front of OEJ there was some jawing and shoving. Nothing major. Problem was that less than a minute later, the loudmouth who was giving OEJ a problem swatted at the puck, near even with the goal-line and scored. Tie game. Crap.
The Spartans would put up another one in the second and despite the hard work by all involved on the Gold side of things, we just couldn't get the equalizer.
Again the Russian line of Jan Yevmenko, Roman Kurin, and Matvey Nikhamik played well, especailly over the last few shifts. They had several good chances to get one... it just didn't happen. Other forwards were Jeff Fosdick, Mike Jasse, Deb Dalesssio, Scott Pounds, and Dan Gregson.
OEJ had a another solid night, as we've come to expect. The D in front of him was Campbell, DWH, Billy Pearlman, and Greg James (who got a penalty in the third).
No stars for this one.
Definitly one we should have had.

Russian Roundup! Schlidaveur round 3 is a tie!

Cadavers(9) vs Schlitz(6)

Tuesday Nov 13
Hingham A
10:00pm

Schlitz - 2
Cadavers - 2

Woo Hoo baby, nothing like a tightly played Schlidaveur. Tight score wise, of course, everything else was kind of loose. There was plenty of pregame smack being run, and there was a nice turnout of players resulting in 10 per side and a very even match.

True to form we had a tie, which was a first for this season, but we have had a long history of tie games in our Schlidaveur events so this was nothing really new.
The pregame smack mostly centered around the "Red Army Line" that had been assembled by the Cadavers. Roman Kurin and Matvey Nikhamik, two of our Ruskie regulars added Cadaver alum Jan Yevmenko to thier line and pretty much backed up the smack all night long. Jan, wearing number 19 was a force to be dealt with all night and the guys in gold spent a long time chasing him.
The gold had some new blood as well. The defense for the Schlitz featured newcomer George Sargent who was skating for his first time with our ragged band and played very well. In fact George scored the games first goal on a nice slapshot that went like a laser past OEJ who was manning the Cadavers net. Credit iJosh and Mike Campbell on the assists.
It wasnt five minutes later that Zombies and their Red Army Line got going with a little help from the guys in gold. Mike Campbell made a ill-advised pass to the middle of the Schlitz Zone after taking it away. Unfortunately Jan Yevmenko was waiting right out front and took the puck and put it past Jim Sullivan for the equalizer. Somehow both Stephan Wennik and Roman were given assists on this goal... the zebras must have been feeling generous.
A tie game going into the second the Russian connection struck again when only 2 minutes into the period Jan buried another spectacular shot, this time with the assists coming from Dan Gregson and Stephan. The Zombies played well with the lead and the Gold didn't help themselves when George Sargent was whistled off for roughing less than two minutes after the goal. The Schlitz stood stout, and with solid play from the rest of the Gold defense (Greg James, Mike Daley joined George and Mike C) they were able to survive the penalty kill and the rest of the period.
So to the third we went, Zombies up 2-1. The Schlitz mounted some good pressure early in the period, particularly on from the Matt Elliot, iJosh, Scott Pounds line. Their hard work paid off when George scored his second from the point taking the outlet from Elliot and Daley. This equalizer energized both benches and the play was tight and (almost) fast for the rest of the way. As the minutes wound down more chances were seen at both ends and both keepers made some excellent stops.
That would be the way it ended with niether team able to get the game winner in the last 10 minutes. A really fun game, that was well played by everyone. Great job to everyone who skated and welcome to the newcomers and alumni visiting.
Game Stars.
3rd Star: I was going to give this one to Stephan for his two assists and his all around good play that doesn't often get "pub". But I decided against it. Good job Stephan but the 3rd Star goes to Dan Gregson for playing after coming home from something like 4-5 days in Vegas (yes that Vegas) on the Red Eye and showing up for the team and collecting an assist. Tremendous effort. Big props to you big guy
2nd Star: George Sargent. Holy crap, another solid rookie pickup. Looks to me like George will work out just fine as an additional defenseman and all around talent. George led the scoresheet for the suds with the only 2 goals and the only penalty. Wow. Larry must not be happy about that.

1st Star: Jan Yevmenko. (on left with Roman and Matvey) A blast from the Cadaver Past, Jan was in town this week and set up a few opportunties to skate with the old club. Great job Jan, two very nice goals and you were a great addition to the Russian Line. You guys deserve all the props. You talked it and you walked it. Great work.

Honorable Mention: This one is for our intrepid leader Matt Kilroy returning from a... uh... thumb injury (that's kind of putting it lightly) that kept him out of commission for a few weeks. Matty gave 'er a try and it worked out fine. Glad to have you back dude.

At left Matty gives us the 1/2 thumbs up.

Fourth Period Honors to the usual cast of characters. Campbell brought beer and his grill. Kilroy brought beer and the fixings for burgers. Dr. Pounds brought beer, as well as a bunch of other folks whom I can't recall right now. Nice turnout for the fourth for a 10pm game, I'm glad everyone was able to hang out and have a burger and a brew. Thanks again to everyone.
Good turnout for Schlidaveur #3.

Nothing like meat on the grill after a 'daveur.

a less formal pose.

James and Campbell enjoy a brew and a burger...nice hat Mike.

Zombie Pride! Cads shut down the Streetcones!

Cadavers (8) vs Streetcones
Sunday November 11
Quincy Youth Arena
9:00pm

5-3 Win!

A nice night at the rink, nice to be at a rink other than UMass, and a very nice win for the Zombies over an average but well matched Streetcones team. Yes, not only were we playing BEFORE 10pm but we weren't at the House of Horrors, and things worked out just fine for the skating Dead who went with an even 10 skaters and OEJ backstopping.
The lines shook out like this. On Defense George Moorachian paired up with (recently 'Cooned) Mike Hammitt and Jeff Fosdick skated with dynamic newcomer Mike Daley. On Offense Larry Bell centered the first line with Matt Elliott and Kevin Parker, and iJosh Greenstein took the second pivot between Scott Pounds and Mike Jasse. I'm pretty sure that these lines shuffled up during the game some so don't shoot the blogger if these weren' t the exact setups.
The Streetcones had decent numbers and a few good skaters, but no one mind blowing. They play in Orange Jerseys like the old Flyers type, but they also had a handful of misfits. Thier goalie was solid but gave up a number of second chances. Again, I thought we matched up very well against them as a group.
Play went well in the first and the Zombies jumped to an early lead when Mike Daley scored unassisted on a nice rush and even nicer slapshot from the middle to top of the zone. That score would hold up until the end of the first and clearly the Cads knew they had a good game on thier hands. The 'cones were clearly two different teams, one that had some moves and got good chances when they played offense but when the Cads took the play to them they tended to lapse into running around thier own zone.
They did get good chances as the first closed and OEJ had several trademark stops, shutting down a bunch of quality bids....its what we've come to expect from Mike. It wasn't long into the second when they did brake through on kind of a flukey goal. The puck came in from the point, lofting through the air and hit a few sticks on the way and fell into the net over OEJ on his glove side. Not much he could do.
The Zombies didn't get down though and it wasn' t long after that that iJosh wristed one home after a scramble in thier zone. Credit Dr. Pounds and Matt Elliot with helpers. Things again stayed very tight and the 'Cones scored again to tie us up at two sometime later in the period. Then just before the end of the second the Zombies struck again, this time on another scramble in their end with the puck coming from Larry out to Mike Daley at the point who shot and Mike Jasse stretching forward in the slot got a terrific deflection that put it past the 'Cone's Keeper. Zombie pride indeed. The Cads led 3-2 after two.
The Cadavers continued to work very well, forcing the play and keeping the 'Cone's at bay. The blogger's recolection on this is flawed, but I think it was about mid-period when the Zombies scored. This one came after several good chances by the Cads, and the hard work paid off. Parker was able to take Larry's draw in the offensive zone and pass it out to Mike Daley at the point, who shuttle passed it over to Jeff Fosdick who labeled it in the upper right hand corner (it did deflect slightly off the goalie's left arm on the way) for the 4-2 lead. That one would turn out to be the game winner, but the Cads weren't done yet.
The 'Cone's desperation led to more and more open play and the chances came at both ends as the game wound down. On a nice break out late in the period Jeff Fosdick fed a beauty of a pass from just over the blue line on the left side to Larry Bell who was streaking up the opposite side. The pass enabled Larry to keep his speed and he did a superb job racing into the zone, getting off his shot then netting the short rebound. Game. Set. Match. Nice work Zombies.
The guys in Orange would get one more... kind of a garbage time goal as the game closed out, but the lead was never in any real danger after the backbreaking Larry goal.
Oh, and by the way, did you notice I didn't mention any penalties? That's right another no penalty game and a win. That's the third game (2 by Schlitz rosters) that we have recieved no penalties, and the team(s) are 3-0 in those games. Conincidence? I think not. Kudos to Mike Hammit, for keeping his cool and not alowing himself to be baited during the second period. He and his D partner George certainly could have boiled over several time but they didn't. They both made first rate contributions to this win by just staying in the game and playing hard. Good job Mike and George.
Really, everyone who played did a terrific job and showed great resolve. Now the Zombies need to put a stop to the heinous Schlidaveur losing streak and get things going. This win ended a long month and a four game losing streak for the Cads, so it felt good for sure.
Game Stars.
3rd Star - OEJ. Another quiet, solid, professional performance from the man between the pipes. The 'Cone's weren't too scary, but I think that had a lot to do with OEJ's near total shutdown of thier offense. Lots of swearing from the guy's in Orange as the play went back up the ice. Good stuff.
2nd Star - At the risk of self congratulation.... Jeff Fosdick for the game winner, and the slick assist on Larry's goal at the end.
1st Star - I'm going with the Phenomenon that is... Mike Daley. Another tremendous game at defense, routinely breaking up plays and covering lots of ground (you have to with me as your D partner... ). His goal to lead off scoring was dynamite, and set a great tone. He also figured prominently in the scoreing of the 3rd and 4th goals that gave us this win. Great job Mike!

Overheard in the Parking Lot 1: This one comes from Larry Bell, when asked about that breakaway speed he showed on his beauty of a goal late in the third period.
"I've been using this new hockey workout. I sent you the link. Its really helped me a lot and I recommend it to anyone looking to increase their speed."
I don't know if we have any guys on this team that fall into that catagory (cough, cough, hack) but I figured I'd pass it along. Here is the expanded link.
http://www.hockeyshot.com/training.cfm
Also I checked into this and Larry doesn't get any money if you click through, nor does it help him with his quest for Statistical Supremacy... so its safe to try it.

Overheard in the Parking Lot 2: I don't really even know what was said exactly nor do I know if I want to put it in the blog... but there was all this ranting going on about the Patriots and of course how unfair everyone else is to them and how much we love them and this somehow resulted in Hammitt mumbling something about "Hell... I'd blow the guy" in reference to Bill Belichick (we need iJosh to give a clarification on this) but if that wasn't enough I think someone else said they'd probably throw in Brady too... just cuz ... well... you know.
This is all unconfirmed at this hour... and not much can really be trusted about anything said in the Quincy Parking lot more than 1 hour after the game has ended.

Alright now... remember Schlidaveur tonight!!!!

Hingham A (thats the rink on the left as you look at the front of the building) at 10:00pm. There has been talk of another guest roster picker... so stand by your email.

Otherwise.... see you tonight!

Suds rise to capture Schlidaveur Glory Round 2!

Schlitz (5) vs Cadavers (7)

Monday November 5

UMass Boston
10:30pm

Schlitz - 4
Cadavers - 1

Another good Schlidaveur team, this time with a healthy turnout that led to both teams skating with 10 a side. Of course we still had a little Goalie availability issue... again, which resulted in Niffty Nelson Sharfman taking to the ice between the pipes for the second week in a row. This time wearing the fine sharp looking colors of the gold. Ah.. .actually he wore a black Cads jersey... I think out of spite. Anyway he looked good... and played good too.

The game started out with the usual items of note, Larry bitching about his roster, finding a place to sit in the spacious and warm locker-rooms, Larry bitching some more, figureing out who was there, Larry still bitching that he's going to lose even though I just gave him my Brother to sub for Blake Underhill... sheesh. It must have been because management had subletted out the roster making duites to iJosh who, in the blogger's opinion, did a fine job. Maybe its just Larry.

So Larry and Nelson and the suds took the ice with DWH, Stephan, Mike Daley, and Mike Hammitt on defense, and Larry, Chris, Roman, Scott, Deb, and Pete Capraro for the offense. It didn't take them long, using thier very strong D as a base to get things going and get on the board early. Larry himself put a nice one past OEJ with helpers given to Chris Foz and Roman.

The Cads were game but not looking too spry in front of OEJ, they had Marc Valenti, Bill Pearlman, Mike Campbell, and Jeff Fosdick on defense behind, Parker, Elliot, Matvey, Gregson, iJosh, and Kenny as the forwards. The Cads kept after it and tried and tried to get some shots on Nelson but the solid D of the Suds wouldn't have it. In fact sub Pete Capraro would put the Suds up by 2 before the end of the 1st period with a goal from Stephan and Scott. The only other item of note in the first was that Matvey for the Cads and Hammitt for the Suds were both called for penalties late in the period. If you sense some foreshadowing here... you might be onto something. We will hear from those two again.

The Second Period was pretty quiet with only 1 goal, another from Pete Capraro (this time from Deb and Mike Daley) providing the only scoring. At this point the Cads were struggling to keep the Zombie Pride going and were trailing 3-0 after two.

It wasn't long into the third period when things got a little more interesting. Matvey scores on a nice rebound from Bill Pearlman and gave the Cads a little hope that they could break through. Of course this was immediatly followed by Hammitt giving Matvey a shove (playfull or not these two had been whacking at each other up and down the ice for most of the night) and fisticuffs ensued. Quickly (thankfully) snuffed out by the lone loudmouth Zebra both guys were told to hit the showers. This didn't go over well for Matvey as he proceeded to "Yard Sale" himself with gloves and stick flying onto the ice in protest. Of course when he first threw his stick it hit off the top of the boards and right back up, smacking him in the helmet.... it just wasn't his moment. Thankfully he stopped short of a complete Ned Braden or even the patented Larry "full ham press" on the glass which no one wanted to see. Unfortunately this was just the opening that our old friend the Coon of Shame has been looking for so....

The Coon of Shame is awarded to Mike Hammitt and Matvey Nikhamik. They can share the award as they have now shared special moments of frustration with each other in now two Schildaveurs. Lets make sure they stay on opposite teams... eh?

Well the game wound down with the only other scoring coming from Dan Herbert (from Larry and Chris) who had a really nice shot from up high. Campbell also took a roughing call on a nice hit that splattered Roman on the backboards, just to make sure he stays in contention for the penalty award. Thats the way this one would end. The Suds take round two and now hold a 2-0 lead in this season's Schildaveur events. Don't forget, Schildaveur number 3 is next Tuesday night in Hingham.

Game Stars.

3rd Star: iJosh for stepping up and playing Roster Man for the night. Nice job seizing the challenge and making the most of it. I thought it worked out great. Thanks.
2nd Star: Pete Capraro. Nice going showing up and playing like a freaking madman all over the ice and netting a pair of goals. Good job dude.
1st Star: Nelson Sharfman. Not only is he willing to play fill in goalie... he freaking wins! Nelson now officially has a GAA of 2.00 for his two games played and he is 1-1. He wasn't tested often last night, but when he was he was all over it. Thanks again Nelson... we all appreciate it.

Overheard on the Cadavers bench: "I don't care what anyone says, that was the BEST goal celebation I've ever seen."

Overheard in the Parking Lot: "Just for future reference.... what is the proper escalation on that play?" This in response to Hammitt's explanation about how things "escalated" between he and Matvey.

Decent turnout for the fourth period... still no eats this season yet.... good beer provided by Scott Pounds and as always Mike Campbell. Thanks boys.

Just a friendly reminder that our State and Local Police Officers are patroling the late night- post hockey roadways and looking for you. One of our teammates had to take a brief time out and have a little conversation with a State Smokey. The conversation didn't last long but it will end up Costing $$$$. So just some friendly advice... keep it under 80....

Kevin Parker proudly displays the result of a DWH slapshot in the post game Cadavers "locker" room. Ouch baby... very ouch...

Schlidaveur #2 on tap for tonight!

Schlitz(5) 2-2-0 vs. Cadavers(7) 1-4-2
Tonight! UMass Boston
10:30pm

If you have been monitoring your email today... and you should have... you'll know that we have guest management assembling the rosters for tonight.
That's right iJosh is writing up the squads for tonight. Get your requests in to him today... if you have any. Otherwise get ready for some fun.
It looks like Matt and Lizzy are still out and Sully is unavailable again... soooo we may have a return of Nifty Nelson inbetween the pipes. For those of you who were not at the Schlidaveur last week Nelson turned in a terrific performance for the Cads only letting up 3 goals.
Otherwise we should have the rest of our usual cast of characters... so bring your game, bring the smack talk, and bring some beer.... and we'll see you tonight at U Mass!
UPDATE! Here are the rosters! Enjoy.
