Zombies fall to Terriers

Cadavers (3) VS CH Terriers
Thursday October 15th
UMass 8:10pm

2-1 Loss

First of a series of double header stretches at the Prison by the Bay no less. The league has been banging the old rink out getting as many games in as possible and this doubleheader was the middle of a 5 game stretch for us.

The dreaded doubleheader wreaks havoc with our two team system as it requires the whole roster for the same evening and we dont even get the benefit of playing each other. What this resulted in has been thinner roster and many players doubling up. Not necessarily a good formula for success for us.

Back to the game at hand this was an early tilt against the CH Terriers who have a good club but had a thin bench for this game.
They had a good goaltender also and that figured big in the game. The Cads dressed the follwing lineup.

Brian Long arm of the Law Carey in Net
Defensemen were George, Jeff, Steve Baker, and DWH
Offense featured: Mike Daley, iJosh, Nelson, Larry, Neil, Gregson, and Dr. Pounds.

I'm sorry but at this point the game was so long ago I can't recall the lines... please comment on the post to set me straight or if you remember anything at all about the game.
I know it was a tight, tight game and the Red took it right to the Terriers and spent a lot of time in their end. We had a nice group of players and played pretty well. The Red felt pretty good as the chances mounted but also an ominous feeling as the keeper looked stronger and stronger as the game went on.

As I recall the Terriers scored on a longer shot close to the end of the first period. Despite playing pretty well and getting lots of chances the Zombies were down.

Leave it to Nelson to come through with a tough goal, a very nice sharp pass and shoot from Steve Baker that tied the game up a few minutes into the second. The game stayed tied for a long time. Red continued to pile up the chances but nothing on the scoreboard to show for it.
Then... as you can imagine... the other shoe dropped and the Terriers scored again... the blogger can't recall the circumstances. Again... please comment.... at any rate we went into the end of the game down 2-1 despite
having shots, just no finish.

There was a scuffle in our own end as we went into the final 5 or 6 minutes and Larry was quickly involved in a full blown scuffle wrestling around with one of the Terriers. Major 5 min for fighting... racking up the Campbell award points... and Steve Baker was chucked for being 3rd man in to boot.
Far from covering ourselves in glory the game would end with Team Zombie still down a goal and more than a little disheartened. Of course Larry and Steve were able to play again in 5 minutes...

See the next post for what happened next....because we played immediatly afterward.
