Anticlimax... forfeit win, and mini-daveur

Cadavers (24) vs Deep Freeze
Monday March 31st
10:10pm Dedham

Forfeit win.

Well... the rematch that wasn't was on last night in Dedham. Despite the early optimism of the Deep Freeze Goalie showing and chatting it up with OEJ, the DF roster never materialized and they were left with a tough choice. The DF captain could play the game with his goalie and four skaters against our 13... or just call it a forfeit and we would split our roster and play an hour of pickup. So he made the call, the refs went home, the Cads win, and the mini-daveur began.
Of the assembled Cads, George, Valenti, Hammit, and J.Foz were turncoats and donned the Golden Jerseys and skated with the white shirted DF against the remaining Red. They (the Dead) were, Roman, Matvey, C.Foz, Campbell, Greg James (who brought along superfan/cookiemaven Miran...), Mike Daley, Ken/Mitch, and Gregson. And the game was on.
There was some good fun action up and down the ice most of the night and the the play remained scoreless for sometime. The Red eventually broke through on a Roman Kurin shot that sneaked through the short side at a tight angle. Chris Foz added another that was a nice finish as well after a few passes around the zone.
The Red were up, 2-0 and the White/Gold came back with a score against OEJ. The blogger can't recal exactly but Marc Valenti put one home weather it was that one or the one that followed to tie the game. As the time went down to 25 min or so, we started to lose players, mostly from the Red side.
The first to go was an unfortunate meeting between a Valenti Laser Slapshot and Mitch's right foot. Poor Ken couldn't get out of the way fast enough and I'm quite sure that all of us are having more comfort walking today than he is.
The White/Gold went ahead briefly 3-2 before the Red came storming back to score the next two. One of which was a fantastic Tick-tack-Toe that ended with Matvey just burying the shot behind the DF goalie. I'm pretty sure Campbell, and Chris Foz had something to do with the setup on that one.
Things kind of fell apart after that. More and more of the Dead in Red were leaving the ice after long shifts. As the numbers dwindled the scoring certainly increased with lots of goals on both sides. Chris Foz had at least one more tally, not to be outdone by his brother Jeff Foz put one by OEJ (on a nice pass from a DF forward) before he called it a night too.
Everyone brought it in general and there was some pretty good play by the usual suspects. Mike Daley was all over the place, Campbell was rushing around like he was rocket powered. Both Russians (Roman and Matvey) had good chances and scores.
George and Greg James had a great collision that sent them both sprawling at one point.
The rest of the action was... as usual... the fourth period in the parking lot.
Big Props to Deep Freeze Dave who hung out with us and had a brew and a cookie.
More Big Props to #1 Fan and Cookie Maker Supreme Miran James. Its clear that Greg's spot on the squad is secure for seasons to come thanks to the brilliant talents of his wife. Thanks Miran.
Here are a few shots from the parking lot, which seems to be very Apres Skate friendly.
