SantaDaveur! Nice Beat Naughty!

Cadavers (12) vs Schlitz (12)
Tuesday December 22

Dedham 10:10pm

Cads (The Nice) 4

Schlitz (The Naughty) 2

Santa set the teams for this Christmas week Daveur over at the Dedham rink. The weather was certainly like the North Pole and the teams assembled to settle this whole Naughty and Nice business thanks to the man in the Red Suit guest GMing. The rosters were set and looked like this.
Cadavers-Nice
Matt in net
Defense: Daley, George, DWH, and Brian Carey
Offense:Neil, Nelson, Daley, AK, Jasse, Roman, Matvey, and Brian's son John

Schlitz- Naughty
Lizzy in Net
Defense: Campbell, Jeff, Reynolds, and Parker
Offense: Larry, Chuck, Goody, Elliot, Hammitt, KenMitch, and Capraro

The game was a classic Schlidaveur with a slightly better than average competitive factor and some better than expected back and forth play.
Lets boil this one down to the nitty-gritty... especially given that the Blogger is tackling this one about 2 weeks after it happened... The Red would clearly take the advantage in the early going and really throughout the first period. This was assisted by... no surprise here... the Yellow taking a few penalties. Campbell would make a trip to the box only to be followed by Mark Reynolds.
The Red would score on a slapshot from Brian at the point. Nice to have Brian skating out for this one as the CEO was in the pipes. The Red would break through again later in the period when Matvey Nikhamik would land a nice shot.
Both goals are on the sheet as unassisted... but lets face it... the scorekeeping was dubious at best. Jeff skated over in the pregame to ask for the keeper to write the times on the sheet when the goals and penalties... and she gave a good natured "It's going to cost ya..." and laughed. Jeff was skeptical given that Linda looked like she was well into the "Holiday Spirit(s)" at that point. Who can blame her given that she has to watch the likes of us.
To the second we go with the Red up 2-0 and the momentum would continue on the Nice side. Really, what did you expect 3 days before Christmas... when Santa picked the teams even? The Second would see a return to the box for Campbell and another two goals for the Red. The first the scoresheet shows Roman assisted by ... Roman. I'm sure there is some other explanation for that goal but you guys will have to fill us in in the comments. The second was the dominating Brian Carey this time assisted by Dr. Jasse and Nelson. Great work all the way around from the Red this whole period, taking it right to the Naughty. The second would end with the Red boasting a 4-0 lead and CEO Keeper Kilroy talking smack as he passed the wheezing Yellow bench.
The Naughty weren't going to take it lying down and shortly after the start of the third they would break through when Mark Reynolds would basically take the play end to end with a brilliant rush. He would beat Matt to break the shutout and put the Yellow on the board. This would be followed by a goal from Goody who had a nice shot from a wide angle... I think... its been a while... someone is going to have to set me straight.
Anyway Campbell would get another call and was shown the gate for the night. Hammitt would take a trip to the box... just for good measure and the Naughty would pretty much not be able to recapture the early period momentum.
Sorry to be so late on this one.

Game Stars
3rd Star:
Matty Kilroy for another great night in net.
2nd Star: Roman Kurin for assisting himself on a nice goal.
1st Star: Badass Brian Carey. A pair of goals and great work all night. Maybe we need to find a way to get him to skate out a little more often?
