Schlitz take on Hillside Pub!

Schlitz (7) vs Hillside Pub

4-2 win!

The Blogger wasn't around for this one, but thanks to Larry Bell we've got a very nice summary of the action. First here is your game day roster.

And now without further ado... Here's Larry:

Good matchup against Hillside Pub. They scored first despite Schlitz having the edge in play. Schlitz came back to tie on Howard Heppleman's

first goal of the game - a result of working hard and crashing the net to put in the rebound. The "Hepper" put us up 2-1, again crashing the net and putting in the rebound of Bakers slapshot. Hillside came back to tie late in the second. Hammit put us on top 3-2 after a nice passing combination from LB and Neil. LB finished the scoring by following Hepper's example and crashing the net for a rebound from Hammit and Capt George.

2nd: 1 Howard unassisted, 2 Howard from Baker
3rd: 3 Hammit from Bell and Shah, 4 Bell from Hammit and Moorachian

ALRIGHT! Nice work boys. Thanks for the guestblog Larry! Great work all the way around. Usually when we play a squad that has the name of a business (autobody, soandso'sbar...) we get our asses handed to us. Nice work for the win crew.

The blogger apologizes for using the pic of Howard in the brace... but its the only pic I have of him. I'll bet it feels better scoring 2 goals than walking around in that thing... welcome back Howard.

Welcome to the Hockey Blog!

Team, friends, opponents, and random wanderers of the digital landscape... Welcome.

In these humble pages do I offer the game stories, mundane facts, stats, and proud tales of our Beer League Hockey teams the Cadavers and the Schlitz.

Can you say something is just a hobby if you do it once (or twice) a week for as long as you can remember? I don't know, but I love to play hockey. We've been playing with one incarnation of this team or another for ten years plus now. We play even if the games are late at night, or on a weeknight (they are usually both), and the kids haven't been sleeping great, and you have to be to work early tomorrow morning. We still go play. Its just what we do to play our game.

Our hobby... or what we do every week, sometimes(mostly) late at night in far away places. Then we like to have a cold beverage and talk about it in the parking lot afterward. Because that's a big part of it to... as you will see.

I got to thinking a while back that we should keep stats. You know, some way to give a story line to the season. So many of them had flown by, it was hard to remember all the things that had happened to the team or teams over the years.

Keeping track of the stats and email conversation threads that went on and on told our story in a new way. Which was cool.
Then I discovered blogger.

The Blog is a perfect forum, in my opinion, to tell our story, and the perfect companion "hobby" to my weekly sport hobby. Each week we get a game story and maybe some fun stories about the game. It works great now with the two teams because everyone wants to know how the other squad did.

So this is the story of our teams and our friends. I hope you find pleasure in the telling of our tales. A good game, a hard skate and usually a cold beer afterward. There are few greater things one can do with their time. At least that's what we think.

Please feel free to comment, whomever you are. The more the merrier I say as long as you are polite... or very funny. Visitors, friends, and opponents thoughts are always welcome. I invite you to share what you have to say. Everyone.
