Holidaveur! Zombies beat Suds!

Schlitz (16) vs Cadavers (13)
Tuesday December 30th

BU 7pm

Cadavers 3
Schlitz 2

All hands on deck for a Holidaydaveur on a the night before New Year's Eve at BU. This one had a extra special feel with most folks being home around the holidays and even had some special guest appearances.
Mike Jasse's good buddy Raj Malhotra and his wife Christina and their two little girls extended their visit so he could play with us and it was cool to have him skate along with the 'daveurs. Thanks to you guys first off for sticking around for the event. Raj needed some help in the locker room but after that he was fine.

We had a good "hockey gods" roster breakdown and the two teams proved to be pretty well matched. There was good action all night and the game was nip and tuck. Here are your bodies.

Cads
Campbell, James; Daley, Elliott
Slate, Capraro, Fitzpatrick, Roman, Parker, Gregson, iJosh, and Ken
Lizzy in Net

Suds
Fosdick, Valenti; Pearlman, George
Jasse, Raj Malhotra, Kilroy, Carl, Ken Douville, Nelson, and Mark Reynolds.

The Gold would clearly try to take the game to Lizzy and the Red in the early going. They had their best pressure of the night in the first half of the first period and really never came back to that intensity for the rest of the game. The Red D was tough but the Gold would take an early lead from Nelson, with George assisting. The Red D was smothering and pretty much sucked everything up in the zone, much to the Gold frustration. After 1 it was still 1-0 Gold but the Red was on the rise.
Red was lifted by a late arriving Greg James and got a noticeable jump for a good number of shifts. They would break through when Mike Daley would score from iJosh to tie in early second. Here is iJosh with the play by play on the goal:
"iJosh collected the puck and headed down the left side of the boards and over the blue line. As the Schlitz D approached, he fired the puck ahead to a streaking Mike Daley who lunged and caught the pass. He then raced in and fired one past Brian to tie the score at 1-1."
Nice. The Cads would go on to score 3 total in second, Campbell from Fitz and then Roman. This despite taking two penalties in the period. Chuck and Campbell. Here is iJosh again on the goal play by play for goals 2 and 3:
2: Mike Campbell received the draw from Mike Fitz. Campbell then fired the puck through the crowd and at the net where it found its way in for a 2-1 lead.

3: iJosh grabbed the puck near the corner to the right of the net. Found Roman in the high slot who rifled the puck past Brian for a 3-1 advantage.
Thanks Josh!

Valenti and George would each go in the second also evening things off. but Red would take 2 more, Campbell again, and Parker (dirty bastard) and Gold would send only one Pearlman and the Gold would creep back on a goal from Valenti with Reynolds on assist.
Despite late pressure the gold couldn't get over but it wasn't for lack of trying. There was late pressure but no way to get through the Zombie D and the Red would take this one 3-2.
Game Stars:
3rd Star: Capt. George. Just one assist but the man covers a LOT of ground. Great work trying to rally the troops all night.
2nd Star: Lizzy. Great work to earn a hard fought 1 goal win. She had several very solid stops down the stretch.

1st Star: Mike Daley. Just kickin' butt all night with terrific and energetic play at both ends. Not easy to play against. Mike had the first Zombie goal but made plays all night.

The real story of the night was the parking lot... as usual... where everyone descended on the goodies that once again were laid out in the back of Kilroy's truck. This night saw not only the 6 foot sandwich (the true sign of a big deal event) but also the exquisite tastes of Miran Jame's sushi. As always Miran walks away with an honorable game star for her continued excellence and kindness. Thanks! Somehow I dont have a pic of her tray of sushi... but it didn't last long.

Also... CEO Kilroy let me in on a disturbing statistic. It seems that we have never... I repeat NEVER kicked a 6 foot sandwich. Not at any of the daveurs, not Hockey at the Beach, not Jasse's the other night... never done it. Never had someone walk up and say "Darn there is no more sub left?" Never happened. This is astounding. I mean really. How many times have we had a sandwich was the next logical question.... this number is uncertain... but a reasonable estimate is somewhere between 7-10 times. That's right friends... this means we could really be talking about an 0-10 record against the sandwich!
And I thought the Schlitz's record looked bad against the league this season... sheesh. The league has nothing on The Sandwich. ... or should we start calling it Mr. Sandwich... or Daddy...

Undefeated Sandwich

Forgot to mention this very fun night was marred by the fact that two of our guys had Cash stolen from the locker room. Both Carl and Scott were victems of the crook. Just a reminder to leave your wallet in the car...
I'll ignore all that go BC nonsense you guys were spewing... there will be none of that.
