Suds soak the Generals

Schlitz (10) vs Generals

8-3 Win!

The frothing suds showed some "Gusto" last night with a very nice 8-3 win over our old friends (this season at least) the Generals. Both squads have done very well against this team whenever we draw them, and I'm sure they are tired of us. Its too bad we don't have any more games scheduled against the Gen's, so we won't get another crack at them unless we see them in the playoffs. If you combine the squads we went 5-0 against the Gen's with 24 goals against them (we gave up only 6). Only one game was very close and that one was won in the last seconds by Chris Fosdick preserving a 2-1 win. Nice work. Lets hope they sign up for the winter.
Back to last night's action.
The night started with a thin turnout. Only seven players when the puck dropped. Sully joined the team in the first and then Ken and iJosh rounded the team out to ten. Larry was overheard on the bench saying: "That was a loooong five minute first shift."
The forward lines broke down like this. Jasse-Sullivan-Matvey,and Roman-IJosh-Ken. Defensive groupings were Larry and Mike Hammitt and then Bill Pearlman and Kevin Parker.
The biggest story of the night was Jim Sullivan and his 4 goals. Reports of a few niffty ones have been trickling in today. Great work around the net Jim.
Not far behind was Larry Bell with 3 assists from the D. We all know Larry doesn't prefer to play D but it sounds like he got the job done and then some last night. Thanks Larry.
His partner Mike Hammitt had a goal and by all accounts had some very nice shots on net.
Also making his mark on D was Bill Pearlman who had the first goal of the game to start us off and played great all night.
Forwards of note were Dr.Jasse (2 assists), iJosh (1 goal, 1assist), and Matvey (1 goal). For the next few "honorable" mentions we are going to take it right from an eye-witness report. Here we go:
"Not showing up on the scoresheet but contributing mightiliy were...
Roman: Shifty in the offensive zone and created some nice ops. Actually had a goal on a zippy low wrister that went in but through a hole in the netting next to the post. Refs missed it. Too bad, it was a helluva shot. Not only did Romin bring beer but he brought New Castle. Delish!
Ken Goldenberg: Perhaps Ken's best game in [my] opinion. Constantly beating his opponent to the puck and disrupting their attempts to gain possession. Skated hard and played strong positionally all night.
Kevin Parker: Such a good addition to the team. Solid defense-man (again, on a night when we needed it due to lack of true D) and got off a couple of nice bombs from the point.
Lizzy: Played a very solid game particularly in the first where she made a number of key saves."
Excellent reporting. Big ups from the blogger on the updates sent in for this game. Just tremendous work. The only other thing I'll note is that another report mentioned Kevin Parker taking a tough hit and getting up slow...but like a true Schlidaveur he finished his shift and the rest of the game. Hope he's feeling better....
Lets do the game stars.....
3rd Star: Dr. Michael Jasse. 2 points on the night and first rate reporting of the events of the game. Its easy to win the blogger over when you collect the stats and tell me a good story. Great job. Thanks!
2nd Star: iJosh. For 2 reasons....actually 3. 1st. He had a goal and an assist. 2nd. I don't see his name here as often as I should (give the boy some props!). and 3rd It will piss off Larry that I passed him over for a game star. (get over it...you played D)
1st Star: Jim "Sully" Sullivan. With four goals on the night Jim has firmly placed himself in the lead for goal scoring on the combined roster. He now has 11 goals (next closest is 7) with 3 assists for 14 points.
I will mention that Larry's 3 assists bring his assist total to 12 and with his 4 goals he now leads the combined scoresheet with 16 points.
Great work from everyone. The suds are now 6-3-1 and looking good down the stretch.
Big props to Pregamers Dr.Jasse, The Hammer (Mike Hammitt), and Billy "The kid" Pearlman. (maybe "the kid" isn't the way to go with Bill, but hey we'll take suggestions on a nickname...) They came through with 2 goals and 2 assists...despite the fog. Way to hold up tradition boys.

Two Corrections.
Bill Pearlman had an assist to go with his goal. Nice job "Ocho".
Kevin Parker also had an assist that was not accounted for. He is percentage points now behind 2nd for the comb. scoring lead with 14.
Also I neglected to mention in Jasse's blurb about the triumphant return of the "patented no-look pass".
