Return of the Blog

457 Days!!!!!!!! Yes boys and girls, that is the last time that Mr. Jeff Fosdick actually posted a Schildaveur Blog Post.  So after a few requests and finally a plea from K.Mitch Goldenberg, the keys have been granted.  So, I, the Official Guest Blogger™ will be taking up semi-permanent residence along with Mitch and Dan Gregson....and the Original Blogger if he <sarcasm>ever finds the time</sarcasm>.

The Blog now returns after what feels like a twenty year slumber.

So without further ado, here is the skinny:

Schlitz Bloodied by the Cones
Schlitz vs the Streetcones

Schlitz 1 - Streetcones 6

So the last time I blogged.....well, I don't remember.  But the last time I recall playing the Streetcones it wasn't a fun affair.  We held our ground, mostly because of a fill-in goaltender.  Can't say that this is going to be any different

Early in the game it was evident that the Cones were a better skating team.  However because of goaltending, some luck and a little bit of hard work, we were able to keep them at bay.  Tom (I think), did a great job of turning away every slap shot and breakaway that came towards his crease.  We really have to  hand it to him.  A few chances were even missed by the Golden Beercans.  Larry made a couple passes to iJosh who just could not get a handle on the puck to get a good enough shot.  There was another shot, I think by Campbell, that just missed the near side of the net and went just wide.  So the 1st period  would end 0-0.

In the second, there would be a bit of confusion on the lines and the original set-up of John Walsh-Larry Bell-iJosh Greenstein and Nelson Sharfman-Roman Kurin-Dan Gregson with K.Mitch Goldenberg rotating through the lines was mixed up a bit with iJosh and Nelson shifting lines.  Shortly after that, Larry would feed Mike Campbell  who would put one past the Cones goalie to give the Schlitz a surprising 1-0 lead.  But the lead would not last for long.  The Cones would get one past the stellar goalkeeper and tie the game at 1-1.  In the middle of the period, Reynolds would crash to the ice and fall awkwardly, hitting his head.  He would have to be helped to the bench and seemed a bit woozy.  He would remain on the bench and try to regain his balance. Back on the ice, iJosh would soon take a tripping penalty near the defensive blue line as he would slip and lose the puck and make a last gasp attempt at stopping the opponent.  No dice - 2 minute timeout.  Schlitz would hold on and keep the Cones off the board. However with 10 seconds to go, the guys in gold would ice the puck.  Larry would lose the face-off and before anyone to get to the point, their defenseman would bury one  from the high slot to take a 2-1 lead with only 6 seconds left in the period.......DAMN!!!!

The 3rd would not be so kind.  Reynolds would try to finish the game, but he only managed one shift before calling it a night.  This would move Roman to the blue line to join Baker, Bauer and Campbell.  Early in the 3rd there would be some chances.  The gold even were able to control play a bit in the offensive end.  But no one could find the back of the net.  Campbell would, as one would expect, find the penalty box after a trip behind the net.  This would lead to a power play goal.  Now the Streetcones were heating up and would eventually start scoring at will.  A couple on the breakaway, one just on the inside of the net.  Schlitz just kept leaving the goalie on his own and the superior play of the Cones got the best of us.    So Schlitz would try to just make it respectable and as the period wound down play would continue in the offensive end.  Again no great chances.  On the last feeble attempt, the puck would find its way behind the Cone's net with 2 seconds to play.  iJosh, who was closest to the puck, noticed the time and stood up and started to curl away from play only to be leveled by a Cone at the buzzer.  That would prompt iJosh to get up and take a shot at the Cone.  A bit of jawing continued and eventually Josh would skate away.  Larry - who gets big kudos in my book - then took matters into his own hands and took on a Cone and would find himself rolling around on the ice trading punches. The ref would kick Gold off the ice, no handshakes this time.  Someone from our bench then decided to take a puck and throw it over the scorer's booth into the Cone's bench.  At that point it was time to clear the area as the Gold would spend the 4th in the locker room rather than intermingling with the Streetcones in the parking lot as I would hear them chatting about the projectile after the game.

Overall a great effort by the goalie and a good  effort by the Gold.  Too bad it had to end like that.

In other news it was reported before the game that Dan with Hands has added two more hands to the family.  Congrats to him, his wife, and his new daughter.

But at least the Blog is Back!!!!

First, Yay to the blog returning!

Second, those Streetcones guys are a bunch of bastards. EVERY single time we play them we have issues. Massive A-holes.
