Schlidaveur Team Selection... in Progress!

Yes Team... the time is upon us.

Managment has collected all of the relevant data...
(photos) and given the task of team selection to our elite panel.
These two ladies have agreed to judge honestly and ruthlessly to divide our humble group into those that... well lets just say one group that is less good looking than the other... fair?

Stand by friends.... our judges have agreed to not only divide the teams but will offer comments on each submitted photo.

The next post will have a break-down of who is skating with whom, and who made the good looking group... err sorry... the less bad looking group. The blogger plans on posting not only your submissions but the judges comments.

This ought to be good....

Welcome to the Hockey Blog!

Team, friends, opponents, and random wanderers of the digital landscape... Welcome.

In these humble pages do I offer the game stories, mundane facts, stats, and proud tales of our Beer League Hockey teams the Cadavers and the Schlitz.

Can you say something is just a hobby if you do it once (or twice) a week for as long as you can remember? I don't know, but I love to play hockey. We've been playing with one incarnation of this team or another for ten years plus now. We play even if the games are late at night, or on a weeknight (they are usually both), and the kids haven't been sleeping great, and you have to be to work early tomorrow morning. We still go play. Its just what we do to play our game.

Our hobby... or what we do every week, sometimes(mostly) late at night in far away places. Then we like to have a cold beverage and talk about it in the parking lot afterward. Because that's a big part of it to... as you will see.

I got to thinking a while back that we should keep stats. You know, some way to give a story line to the season. So many of them had flown by, it was hard to remember all the things that had happened to the team or teams over the years.

Keeping track of the stats and email conversation threads that went on and on told our story in a new way. Which was cool.
Then I discovered blogger.

The Blog is a perfect forum, in my opinion, to tell our story, and the perfect companion "hobby" to my weekly sport hobby. Each week we get a game story and maybe some fun stories about the game. It works great now with the two teams because everyone wants to know how the other squad did.

So this is the story of our teams and our friends. I hope you find pleasure in the telling of our tales. A good game, a hard skate and usually a cold beer afterward. There are few greater things one can do with their time. At least that's what we think.

Please feel free to comment, whomever you are. The more the merrier I say as long as you are polite... or very funny. Visitors, friends, and opponents thoughts are always welcome. I invite you to share what you have to say. Everyone.
