Courtesy of the BIG OVERTIME WIN on Monday the Suds will face off tonight against the number 2 seed Wolverines in Quincy for a chance to advance in the D level playoffs. The Wolverines come in 1-0 thanks to a 5-2 drubbing they gave the Scapegoats last week. We've seen this team not that long ago and things didn't go great.

The Beercans will need a big effort to keep the run going tonight.

Management conscripted...err requested the assistance of a couple of guest GMs to serve as Team Captains and to pick out the sides. This has had some interesting results so far and management thinks this format for daveurs may be seen again this season.

On Wednesday Mike Hammitt and Steve Baker took their rosters of available players and meeting via conference call at 'daveur World HQ picked up the sides.

Regardless the preffered postgame location is the right side (near) of the rink. ... cuz that's probably what's most important to easily 30% of us.

So much for the off-season.

Fresh off a royal "ousting" by the Blues last week to conclude the Winter season our heroes of the rink head back to the ice to open the Summer 2010 season with a CincodeMayoDaveur tonight in Canton.

Schlidaveur Incorporated opens another season with new and familiar faces and the league has been nice enough to give us a season opener "get to know you" Schlidavuer game. Everyone will be on deck tonight in Canton to get things underway.
Management consulted the hockey gods (there's a temple deep in the catacombs under world-headquarters), and meditated, even offered some sacrifices (the gods are picky... and hard to reach this time of year) and came up with a nice split roster that will hopefully make for a good game tonight.

Playoff Elimination Game.

Well kids its happened once again. Its been a few seasons now since we have met each other in the playoffs thanks to the league placing us in different divisions. This year there was no separation and both teams finished in the middle of the pack in the Islanders Division. Thanks to the double elimination format both teams lived again after dropping their first games. The Schlitz lost to El Tigre in OT, and the Cadavers lost to the Shock in a game that was tied with less than a minute remaining. Thanks to victories over the Blues (Schlitz) and D-Minus both teams stay alive and now face each other on Thursday night to see who can stay alive for one more round.

As it happens we've divided the teams on another creative (what else would you expect) basis as per the last 'daveur event of the season.

Playoff Doubles Continue Tonight!

Alright 'daveurs... the Playoffs continue TONIGHT in Canton with some very interesting matchups on Tap. Tonight the Suds, losers to the Shock in a close game last week (4-1 2 e.n.g.s)in game one will take on old time rival The Blues who joint the losers bracket courtesy of a 1-0 loss at the hands of the Shock. Interesting that the Shock has risen to the winners bracket and done pretty well here.

The nightcap sees the Cadavers, losers to El Tigre in OT facing D-minus who won the play-in game only to lose to CH Terriers in "game one" but should be a makeable mark for the Dead in Red tonight.

The deal now is win to advance. The winners get to play again on Thursday night, also in Canton. So if both teams make it we get the RARE AND WONDEROUS... PLAYOFF 'DAVUER.

Now if that isn't motivation enough... I don't know what is.

A playoff double header in Rockland tonight for both the Suds and Zombies. Thats right both teams are technically underdogs (as the lower seed) tonight as the Suds take on the Shock in the first game, and the Zombies take on traditional rival El Tigre in the nightcap.

We will need all hands on deck for both games tonight and there are many 'daveurs that are unavailable so we will need every body we can get. Some guys will be skating both games just to fill out the roster. We have good players available, even if they aren't plentiful, and we should have a good chance in both games. Lets bring it.

and... HOCKEY ON THE BEACH!!!

Only one game this week team but an important announcement concerning 'daveur activities that YOU want to be a part of. The Duxbury Beach Boys have once again organized a Hockey at the Beach evenent or Beachdaveur '09 as they are calling it around here in the corporate headquarters.

In case you missed last year's event, check out the fun and pics here, and here to see what its all about. We are talking grillin', chillin', sunnin', swimmin', horseshoein', and just plain having fun with your favorite parking lot crowd.

Here is Mr. Campbell's event email in case anyone missed it.

"The glorious and storied town of Duxbury made the mistake of selling a few of us Schlidaveurs Over-Sand Beach stickers this summer, and with the crappy weather, we haven’t really gotten our fair use. So, we’d like to invite all of you maniacs to join us for a Saturday afternoon/evening beach party to make up for the loss of most of our summer-time beach fun.

Here’s the deal:

Who: You and yours. I’m not bringing my cherubs. You can bring your kids, but you do so at your own risk. Think of it this way… A few bucks for a babysitter that night vs. the thousands of dollars you’ll spend on counseling for them due to the damage one extended evening with all of us could cause.

When : Saturday August 22nd. 4:00 PM until they kick us off – likely around 10 or so. (Note we picked this date because the tides will be MUCH better than last year – Low tide at 7:35, giving us the whole beach almost!)

Where : We’ll meet at the end of Powder Point Ave, in Duxbury. There’s a Bridge there, and a Parking lot. We’ll leave all of your cars there, pile into one of our SUVs, and head out on to the beach. (See Map of Powder Point Ave here. Use Google Maps to find your way there.)

What to Bring : Beach Stuff. We’ll have Horseshoes (in case anyone wants to challenge Greg James and I for Championship of the World honors.), Volleyball, and Grills. We’ll bring stuff for a fire on the beach when it gets dark, although I don’t recall lighting one last year. Doesn’t mean we didn’t, though.

Bring stuff that you like to eat, drink, and share. Keep in mind though, that everything you bring has to be lugged out to the beach in an SUV, and lugged back, so be practical. If you can.

Also, there are no “facilities” out there, so if you drink too many (is there such a thing….. “too many”?)Bud Light Limes, you’ll need to go swimmin’ to pee. So bring your bathing suit. And a Towel. And your Jaws theme…

Note: If you miss the rides from the Bridge parking lot, you can call one of us, and see if we’ll come back and get you OR… you can walk across the bridge, onto the beach, and take a right. Walk down the beach, and you’ll run into us. In case you need it, my cell number is xxx. (Jeff, PLEASE don’t post this to the blog again this year! I’m still getting vehicle warranty spam phone calls from last years posting!)"

Thanks to the guys organizing this event, Campbell, Capraro, Mark Reynolds and Dr. Jasse. Schlidaveur management looks forward to having a few cold ones on the hot sand.

This was a really fun event last year and we would love to get more people out this time around. If you have the means to get there please come on down and bring a friend or two and enjoy the summer by the sea with your friends from the rink.

Storylines include:

- Will the Campbell:James Horseshoe Dynasty be broken up... by anyone?

- What game/sport/contest event will UberCEO Kilroy come up with to settle out the 'daveur playoff squad dillemma? Matt is a master at "games" I have no doubt he will dissapoint.

- Will Lizzy and her Dad make make it with the Jello shots again this year?

- Will we be asked to leave the beach before it technically "closes"?

Alright alright team... Managment has set the squads and there are at least 12 confirmed per side and we are ready to get down and dirty with a lefties vs righties Schlidaveur for Monday night. This is already the "last" 'daveur of the season (that was quick) and will be the breakdown we will use for the playoffs.

Word has it there will be a 6 foot Sammich in da house as well as rumor of BL Limeys... but dont be afraid to bring either BEER or GOOD THINGS TO EAT. As they say... the more the merrier. Lets make this an evening to remember.
